Read Queerly 2026 - January Update

Happy Tuesday everyone!  Today I'm sharing my first update on my January progress for the year long Read Queerly 2026 which is hosted by Alexx @ Enthralled Bookworm.  In January, I completed 2 books for a total of 2 read so far out of 16 total books on my tbr.  You can see my original tbr here.  Keep reading to see the sixteen books on my tbr for this challenge:

3. Trans kids: A queer middle grade book featuring a trans kid/s

 ❋ ❋
Another Kind by Trevor Bream and illustrated by Cait May is an MG graphic novel that I wish I'd had in my life right when it was released rather than come into nearly five years late, but better late than never I suppose.  As you might have guessed, I absolutely loved it.  If you're at all interested in found family, you can't miss this sci-fi fantasy adventure.  The "cryptid" kids are absolutely delightful.  In its own way, it reminds me of a combination of The House in the Cerulean Sea and Stranger Things.  I hope we'll get to visit this world and these characters again in the future and that this isn't just a standalone story.

My review is also on Goodreads and The StoryGraph

10. Roommates: A queer book with the roommates trope

 ❋
My Roommate From Hell by Cale Dietrich has quite a fun and unique concept.  It didn't always work for me and I found it to be a little too long, but it was certainly entertaining and pretty funny at times.  By the time I got to the ending, though, I realized I was hoping for something a little more horror than this lighthearted story would offer.

My review is also on Goodreads and The StoryGraph

Are you participating in this challenge?  Have you read these books?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!
