My Summer of Horror This Week:
What I've Watched This Week:
❋ ❋ ❋ ❋.5
Frailty - I went into Frailty pretty much blind. I was not expecting that ending at all, but it was excellent. I wish Bill Paxton was still around and making movies. The twists in this were very unexpected and very well done. Anyway, if you like Seven, Sinister, Stir of Echoes, and even Supernatural, you might want to give this a try.
My review is also on Letterboxd.
Goddess Bless You from Death (Season 1) - Netflix - I've watched the first five episodes of this Thai series so far and I really need to know where this is going to go. I love that the romance element of this story isn't the main focus and that the main focus of the story is the criminal investigation and ghostly horror. I've also enjoyed getting to know the characters so far as well too.
❋ ❋ ❋ ❋
Episode 1: I had no idea what to expect with this going in, but I had fun. It looks like the show is setting up a lot so I'm looking forward to seeing where it all goes.
My review is also on Serialized.
❋ ❋ ❋ ❋
Episode 2: Singha is an intense guy, but he's likable and I think he'll give this case everything he's got. Also, otherwise Sey is my second favorite character.
My review is also on Serialized.
❋ ❋ ❋ ❋
Episode 3: King was irritating before but now knowing more of the truth he's even more insufferable to me. Also, Sey needs to get his act together. Darin clearly cares a lot for him, but he should have let him marinate after coming to crash at his place after going out and getting drunk.
My review is also on Serialized.
❋ ❋ ❋ ❋
Episode 4: Actually a bit upset that Singha and King were a couple in the past. King is very irritating. I also would like more context for what happened between Sey and Darin, but both of them need to get their acts together. That and both Darin and Thup better be okay after the way the episode ended for the both of them. On that note, I would like both Darin and Thup to talk about ghost stuff to compare notes.
My review is also on Serialized.
❋ ❋ ❋ ❋
Episode 5: Now knowing a little bit more about King's background with Singha and with what happened with the police two years ago, it makes me even more annoyed by him now. I'm glad he stepped up and donated blood to Darin though. I really wasn't expecting him to do that at all.
My review is also on Serialized.
What I Read This Week:
❋ ❋ ❋
Not all of the stories in Blood Bank (Vicki Nelson #6) by Tanya Huff quite worked out for me as well as I was hoping, but I did like seeing more of Vicki after her transition and some of the Henry flashback scenes were cool.
My review is also on Goodreads and The StoryGraph.
❋ ❋ ❋ ❋ ❋
I absolutely loved Into the Drowning Deep (Rolling in the Deep #1) by Mira Grant! I don't have a lot to say about this one other than that I need lots more ocean horror/ mermaid horror books like it, please and thank you.
My review is also on Goodreads and The StoryGraph.
❋ ❋ ❋ ❋
I love this author's style and The Possession of Alba DÃaz by Isabel Cañas was very nearly perfect for me. I didn't quite get into it as quickly as I was hoping to but the final third of this book was perfect. I can't wait to read whatever she writes next.
My review is also on Goodreads and The StoryGraph.
What I'm Reading Now:
The Dead of Summer (The Dead of Summer #1) by Ryan La Sala - I've just started in on this one and it's pretty good so far. I'm also reading this for Read Queerly 2026.
