SciFi Month 2025 - Top Ten Tuesday: Future Classic

Happy Tuesday everyone!  Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday which is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.  In honor of SciFi Month 2025, a celebration of all things sci-fi and it's hosted by Lisa @ Dear Geek Place, Imyril @ There's Always Room For One More, Annemieke @ A Dance With Books, and Mayri @ Book Forager (Image credit: Artwork by Yuriy Nedopekin), all of my Top Ten Tuesday posts will be sci-fi themed.  This week's topic is Modern Books You Think Will Be Classics In The Future and this month's prompt challenge which puts a sci-fi spin on it.  Today's is Future Classics and the ten books I'm featuring will all be considered classics in the future (if they aren't already).  Without further ado, here we go in alphabetical order by title:

11/22/63 by Stephen King

Dark Matter by Blake Crouch

The Fifth Season (The Broken Earth #1) by N.K. Jemisin

Illuminae (The Illuminae Files #1) by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

Leviathan Wakes (The Expanse #1) by James S.A. Corey

A Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet (Wayfarers #1) by Becky Chambers

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir

Red Rising (Red Rising Saga #1) by Pierce Brown

Skyward (Skyward #1) by Brandon Sanderson

Vicious (Villains #1) by V.E. Schwab

Are you participating in SciFi Month 2025?  Have you read any of these books?  What are some of your favorite books that are primarily one color?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  1. I've not read these. They look interesting. I've only read one Stephen King and I keep saying that I need to read more!

    Have a great week!

  2. I appreciate that you made your choices from one genre, a genre I don't often read. Thank you.

  3. A good way to incorporate the two themes for this month.

  7. So happy to see so much SciFi as future classics - and I so agree!
One that I have been meaning to read, but have yet to get to, is Dark Matter.

  10. I love that you gave this topic a sci-fi spin! I really want to read The Fifth Season and A Long Way to An Angry Planet. I would honestly not be surprised if Becky Chambers books are considered future sci-fi classics!

  11. Always thrilled to see PHM on a top ten list!

  12. I'm not a huge sci-fi reader, so I was surprised to actually find some books I do know on your list. I still have to continue The Broken Earth trilogy, I only read the first book years ago but never continued. Probably due to me not being as big on sci-fi.

  13. Love your choices! 11/26/63, Dark Matter, Project Hail Mary and The Fifth Season are all favorites😁

  14. I've heard of several of these, but never read any! Still, given the hype and enjoyment readers find in them, I'm sure some of these could be someday classics. :) Thanks so much for visiting my list!

  15. Hi Lauren, I have not read any of these, but my husband and son loved Project Hail Mary and they love Brandon Sanderson. Thank you for the Christmas card, I got it today!! Yours is the first one I have received from #TBTBSanta, and this is my first year participating as well. My daughter went to college in Mount Vernon, so we are familiar with that area :) Thanks again!
