Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Can't Believe I Haven't Read

This week the theme for Top Ten Tuesday, over at The Broke and the Bookish, is Books I Can't Believe I Haven't Read.  This week I decided to put my list together a little differently than I normally do.  I looked at the Goodreads list called Books That Everyone Should Read At Least Once to see which books I'm most surprised that I haven't read in comparison to top voted books on this list.  Here are the books that I can't believe I haven't read, but definitely plan to at some point in the future:

1984 by George Orwell

The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger

The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

Catch-22 by Joseph Heller

Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey

Brave New World by Aldous Huxley

Watership Down by Richard Adams

The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde

Do we share any titles on our lists?  What books are you surprised that you haven't yet read?

  1. I haven't read a lot of these books, but I admit... most of them are on my TBR list as I've heard great things about them! I hope you get to read these books soon. Thanks for stopping by my blog! :-)

    1. Thanks for visiting my blog in return. I hope I do, too. I've heard such great things about all of them and it's about time I figured out what all the fuss is about!

    2. We share the same name! :-D I have read 1984 which kinda creeped me out. I haven't read One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, but I watched it as part of my psychology class in Sixth Form, which was pretty cool :-)

    3. Cool - hi Lauren! :) I've actually seen movie/theater versions of these, but I have never read the books. I bet that would be an interesting movie to watch for class! :)

  2. The Importance of Being Earnest is such a fun & short read! I read it for the first time last month and loved it :) hope you do too! 1984 is also a really powerful book. - Maggie @ macarons & paperbacks

    1. I'm really looking forward to both! I've seen the theater productions and movies of them, so I want to read the source material. :)

  3. The Importance of Being Earnest had my sister and me laughing too hard to read aloud when my mom told us to read it years ago for school (we were homeschooled). I will never, ever be able to read Watership Down after watching a movie of it when I was a very young girl; horrible nightmares that I still remember nearly twenty years later. :(

  4. Ah the classics... I've read Brave New World and 1984 but haven't read the rest although they're all on my list. Watership Down is actually sitting on my shelf right now and I read the first 5 pages... that counts right? :D Awesome post!

  6. You're not alone here. I've only read Brave New World, Catcher in the Rye, and 451 (The first two for school). Though, I do have an aversion to classics because I worry that I won't understand them...

    1. I know what you mean. Or that they won't live up to everything I've heard.

  7. The Catcher in the Rye is a book I have been wanting to read for absolutely forever. Fahrenheit 451 is a very intriguing book, and I'm actually auditioning for the play Importance of Being Earnest in a few weeks...Great list!

  8. Ooooooh! You've got some great reads on this list! Oscar Wilde is my favorite person in history- I recommend everything he has written. The Importance of Being Earnest is so witty and funny. Hope you love it!

  9. Is it crazy that the only book I have read on this list is Catcher in the Rye, and that only because I had to my sophomore year of high school? Still, it was a good book, and I'm glad that I did read it haha. Have you ever read The Picture Of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde? I read it last summer and it's become one of my favorite classics.
