SciFi Month 2025 - Top Ten Tuesday: Sci-Fi Books I've Loved Since This Time Last Year

 

Happy Tuesday everyone!  Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday which is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.  In honor of SciFi Month 2025, a celebration of all things sci-fi and it's hosted by Lisa @ Dear Geek Place, Imyril @ There's Always Room For One More, Annemieke @ A Dance With Books, and Mayri @ Book Forager (Image credit: Artwork by Yuriy Nedopekin), all of my Top Ten Tuesday posts will be sci-fi themed.  This week's topic is The First 10 Books I Randomly Grabbed from My Shelf, but in honor of the month I'm sharing Sci-Fi Books I've Loved Since This Time Last Year.  I've enjoyed quite a few books from the genre so it was tough to narrow it down to just ten.  Without further ado, here we go in alphabetical order by title:

Blackout (Newsflesh #3) by Mira Grant - If you're at all interested in post-apocalyptic or zombie stories, this series is excellent. The audiobook production really suits it.

Chain-Gang All-Stars by Nana Kwame Adjel-Brenyah - I went into this dystopian story mostly blind and now I definitely know why it's won all of the awards it has.

Crownchasers (Crownchasers #1) by Rebecca Coffindaffer - I read this one back in August and it quickly became one of my favorite reads of 2025.  It's a real hidden gem and deserves a lot of love.  I can't wait to read the sequel this month.

Hell Divers (Hell Divers #1) by Nicholas Sansbury Smith - I'm glad I decided to try out after having it recommended to me so many times.  I don't think I've read anything quite like it before, and I'll definitely be back for book two soon.

Project Nought by Chelsey Furedi - I got this from a thrift store on a whim and this YA time travel graphic novel with a dash of romance was quite the pleasant surprise.  It wrapped up nicely, but I wouldn't mind revisiting the characters again in the future.

Rogue Protocol (The Murderbot Diaries #3) by Martha Wells - I read this audiobook not too long before I watched the first season of the tv adaptation (which was brilliant and I'm so happy it'll be back for another season).  This series just keeps getting better and better.  I can't wait to read the next book.  Kevin R. Free is such a good narrator!

Ruby Red (Precious Stone Trilogy #1) by Kerstin Gier - I really got a kick out of this YA time travel series opener.  I'm going to have to read the rest of the series.

Saga, Volume 12 by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples - This series has been consistently great.  It'll be tough to wait for the next volume.

Ship Breaker (Ship Breaker #1) by Paolo Bacigalupi - The world-building of this YA dystopian was outstanding.  I don't know why I put it off for so long.  Now I'll have to get to the rest of the series soon.

William Shakespeare's Star Wars: Verily, A New Hope (William Shakespeare's Star Wars #4) by Ian Doescher - The audiobook production of this was so much fun - the full cast and the sound effects were awesome!
