Happy Tuesday everyone! Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday which is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is Book Titles That Describe Me/My Life. I've decided to feature Books I Need To Read That Inspired Movie & Books I Loved. I usually like to read the book before I see the adaptation, but that's not always the case. The movie and tv shows link back to their title pages on Letterboxd and Serialized. Anyway, all of these movies and shows are adaptations that I've really loved and would like to try the source material to see how it compares (for better or worse). Without further ado, here we go by book title:
Broken by Don Winslow - I saw Crime 101 with Chris Hemsworth and Halle Berry at the movie theater and was a lot more invested than I was expecting to be. I'll have to check out the novella that inspired it in this collection of shorts.
The Devil's Advocate by Andrew Neiderman - The 1997 horror movie had a bit of everything and Al Pacino seems like he was having a heck of a time playing the devil. I wonder how the book compares?
Except the Dying (Detective Murdoch #1) by Maureen Jennings - In the last year, I've started into the Murdoch Mysteries tv series and it is so much fun. I love all of the characters so much. I just recently found out that it's inspired by a book series so now I'll have to read those as well.
I Am Not Okay With This by Charles Forman - I loved I Am Not Okay With This on Netflix and was really disappointed when it was cancelled after only one season. If only it had more episodes.
The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan - The movie adaptation was outstanding and I need to read the book and probably cry all over again.
The Keeper of Lost Causes (Department Q #1) by Jussi Alder-Olsen - I didn't realize the tv series Dept. Q on Netflix was based on anything let alone a Danish crime mystery thriller series. I'm going to have to tide myself over for season 2 of the show with these books.
The Power of the Dog by Thomas Savage - The movie adaptation really impressive and I appreciated that it wasn't quite what I was expecting. It makes me wonder how the original novel will turn out.
The Ritual by Adam L.G. Nevill - I had no expectations for the 2017 movie, but ended up being absolutely hooked by its brand folk horror. I can't wait to be petrified all over again by the novel that inspired it.
The Terror by Dan Simmons - The first season of The Terror adapts this book. I wasn't at all familiar with it before going it, but it was amazing and I need more and the book is 835 pages long.
Why Didn't They Ask Evans? by Agatha Christie - I stumbled on this 2022 miniseries adaptation of an Agatha Christie story I wasn't at all familiar with going in. I've been on a bit of an Agatha Christie kick lately and I ended up liking this a lot more than I was expecting, so now I want to try the novel.
Have you read any of these books or watched any of these adaptations? As always, thanks very much for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!
