Happy Thursday everyone! Today I'm sharing my my fourth update for my progress for the year long reading challenge called the 2026 Popsugar Reading Challenge. In April, I completed 4 books for a total of 29 read so far out of 50 total books on my tbr. I think I'm making some great progress. You can see my original tbr here. Keep reading to see my thoughts on the books I read in April for this challenge:
6. A book with an overweight main character whose story isn't about losing weight
25. A book that explores influencer culture

Listen for the Lie by Amy Tintera is a novel I'm very glad I listened to on audiobook because the production is excellent. The story kept me hooked but I really wished it was full cast throughout rather than just for the podcast parts, but January LaVoy, as always, does an amazing job. I also wish there wasn't a romance element between the podcaster and the subject. I could have totally done without that. Otherwise, I loved this and I can't wait to read more from this author in the future. My review is also on Goodreads and The StoryGraph.

Pumpkin (Dumplin' #3) by Julie Murphy is I think the best of this series. For some reason, I wasn't expecting to see either Willowdean or Millie in this, so that was a real pleasant surprise to see them in this story as well. I'll have to be catch up on more more of this author's books in the future. My review is also on Goodreads and The StoryGraph.
23. A book you were hoping would fit into a prompt but doesn't
❋ ❋ ❋ ❋
Colin Gets Promoted and Dooms the World by Mark Waddell was and an awesome fantasy horror with a great sense of humor. Plus, there are plenty of morally gray characters in the cast that I want to know more about. I can't wait to read Messy As Hell from this author in the future and return to this world. It really reminds me of Wolfram & Hart from Angel meets Lumon Industries from Severance. If you like the works of Jenny Kiefer, you might want to try Mark Waddell. My review is also on Goodreads and The StoryGraph.
45. A book that features birding - Birding is the act of watching, listening to, and sometimes tracking birds in the wild

The Wild Robot Protects (The Wild Robot #3) by Peter Brown is a great finale to what has quickly become a favorite series. That said, I'd argue that it is my least favorite of the three. The other two just set the bar too high in comparison. Finally, I'll miss all of these characters. I hope the future film adaptations will produce the entire story because I would just love to see that.My review is also on Goodreads and The StoryGraph.
Are you participating in this challenge? Have you read any of these books? As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!
