Happy Saturday everyone! I hope everyone is staying healthy. This August I'm taking part in another readathon, the Disney-a-Thon. It is Disney themed readathon that lasts for the entire month of August. It was created by @izcurrentlyread and co-hosted by @natureofpages, @TheFranciscoMP, and @celebrityreadsh. I took part in this last year and it was so much fun. You can check out my wrap up post from last year here. You can join one of four teams to direct your path (The Little Mermaid, The Princess and the Frog, Beauty and the Beast, and Hercules). If you like, you can even take a fun little quiz to find out which team you belong to. Hercules is one of my favorite and one of the most underrated Disney movies, so I knew I had to join that team. I even took the quiz and it told me I ought to join Team Hercules, so it's official. I'm now a proud member of Team Hercules! By the way, @TheFranciscoMP is the team leader with celebrityreadsh leading on his behalf. Without further ado, here are the books I plan on reading for this readathon:
Hercules: Read a book with a strong male character (10 points)
My choice: The Darwin Elevator (Dire Earth Saga #1) by Jason M. Hough - I had the opportunity to try an audiobook sample of this ages ago and it was pretty cool. I'm really looking forward to it, especially considering how much I loved Hough's work in Zero World.
Megara: Read a book with a female character who is in distress but no damsel in distress (10 points)
My choice: Mistborn (Mistborn #1) by Brandon Sanderson - I've had this series opener on my tbr for ages. It'll be my first from Sanderson too. I've heard so many great things about this series and I can't wait to get to it.
Hades: Read a dark mystery/ fantasy book (10 points)
My choice: Sworn in Steel (Tales of the Kin #2) by Douglas Hulick - I really enjoyed the first book of this duology, Among Thieves. It really reminded me of The Lies of Locke Lamora so I'm really interested to see where this installment goes.
Sisters of Fate: Read a book with 3 (or 1) witches (10 points)
My choice: This Coven Won't Break (These Witches Won't Burn #2) by Isabel Sterling - I just recently read These Witches Won't Burn and I can't wait to jump back into this world.
Phil: Read the group book (20 points)
By Twitter vote: Strange the Dreamer (Strange the Dreamer #1) by Laini Taylor - I loved Taylor's Daughter of Smoke & Bone series and I can't believe I haven't already picked this one up before now.
5 Muses: They've granted you with the power to directly jump to another team if you want, without reading your team's prompts (40 points)
I'm not planning on using this one, but if I do complete my Team Hercules tbr I planning on jumping into the Team Beauty and the Beast map. There are some pretty promising sounding prompts for it.
Are you taking part in the Disney-a-Thon this August? Have you read any of these books? As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!
Yay! Hercules is my ABSOLUTE favourite Disney film - I agree it's so underrated.
ReplyDeleteI was going to join Team Hercules, but I've read Strange the Dreamer relatively recently and don't really want to reread it. Hmm.
Yes!
DeleteAh well, luckily I hadn't gotten to it.
This sounds like fun and you have some aweso.e books planned. Strange the Dreamer is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI am a huge Disney fan, but as my nieces and nephews are all grown up with families of their own, we have kinda 'passed on the baton' so to speak, so we are fast getting out of touch with all the new films and characters.
ReplyDeleteThis does sound like a fun readathon though and I am really intrigued by 'Strange The Dreamer', although all of your selection have great cover art.
Thanks for sharing and Good Luck! :)
