Happy Sunday everyone! Over on BlueSky, I requested recommendations for the 12 Challenge 2025 and now I have 12 books recommended to me to try over the course of this year. I took part in this last year after requesting recommendations on Twitter - you can see my final update for the 12 Books 12 Friends Challenge 2024 here. Anyway, without further ado, keep reading to see more about what I'm hoping to read this year for this challenge.
The Phoenix Keeper by S.A. MacLean - This standalone fantasy has been recommended for fans of T.J. Klune, Travis Baldree, Alice Oseman, and Casey McQuiston, so I understandably have high expectations for it.
Looking Glass Sound by Catriona Ward - Ward has been hit or miss for me, but this horror thriller set in Maine does sound tempting.
Les Normaux by Janine Janssen - This fantasy graphic novel will be released on February 11th and it sounds nice. Alice Oseman has blurbed it, so that's very promising.
The Spirit Bares Its Teeth by Andrew Joseph White - I've meaning to read this for awhile since reading Hell Followed With Us. Plus, the cover looks amazing.
A Guest in the House by Emily Carroll - I really liked Through the Woods by this author and this sounds like it will be right up my alley too.
The Outcast Mage (The Shattered Lands #1) by Annabel Campbell - This fantasy debut will be released on January 28th and it's been recommended for fans of Andrea Stewart and Samantha Shannon. It sounds like it will be a good one.
The Great Fortune (Balkan Trilogy #1) by Olivia Manning - I'd somehow completely missed this classic up until this challenge. I hope to read the audiobook. The cover of the audiobook I'm sharing here doesn't match with the one on my board (this is the one I found on Goodreads for the edition narrated by Emilia Fox, the one on the board matches the cover of it in Libby).
The Book of Ebenezer Le Page by G.B. Edwards - I'd never heard of this at all before it was recommended to me, but we'll see what I think when I pick it up.
A Beginner's Guide to Dying by Simon Boas - Self-help memoirs aren't a go-to genre for me. Based on the description I may need a tissue for this.
The Tainted Cup (Shadow of the Leviathan #1) by Robert Jackson Bennett - I've loved what I've read of this author so far and I'm glad this challenge is giving me the excuse to try this because it sounds amazing.
Kitchens of the Great Midwest by J. Ryan Stradal - This isn't a go-to genre for me, but I have been eyeing this one at my library so this challenge finally gives me the excuse to read it.
Chain-Gang All-Stars by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah - I've been meaning to read this dystopia and now I have a great excuse to finally check it out.
Are you doing this challenge? Have you read any of the books? As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!
