Happy Wednesday everyone! Starting in this month, I've decided to do another round of my Spell It Out Reading Challenge. You can see my 2023 challenge tbr here and my 2024 one here. The rules for this challenge are pretty easy - you have to read books to spell out your name by using book titles. That means I'll be reading to spell out my first name and blog name, LAUREN ALWAYS ME, so I'll be reading 14 books. I'll give myself until next July to finish my challenge. Without further ado, keep reading to see the books I plan on reading for this challenge:
LAUREN
L - The Lost Girls of Paris by Pam Jenoff - A friend gave me this one and it sounds pretty fascinating.
A - The Anubis Slayings (Amerotke #3) by Paul Doherty - I haven't read the others in this series, but this does sound like a cool historical mystery.
U - Under the Pendulum Sun by Jeanette Ng - I found this at a thrift shop recently and it looks and sounds like it could be a great gothic historical fantasy.
R - Rogues' Gallery: The Secret History of the Moguls and the Money That Made the Metropolitan Museum by Michael Gross - This is another one I came across at a thrift shop. I don't read art history that often, but the title and cover sound quite enticing.
E - Empire of the Vampire (Empire of the Vampire #1) by Jay Kristoff - This has been sitting on my tbr for way too long. I think this is going to be awesome.
N - Nekropolis (Matt Richter #1) by Tim Waggoner - I've really liked what I've read from this author and this sounds something like Dan Chambeaux meets Eric Carter which sounds cool to me.
ALWAYS
A - The Adjustment (The Program #5) by Suzanne Young - This series has been great so gar and it's time I get caught up on it.
L - Living the Good Death by Scott Baron - I'll admit the cover for this really caught my eye.
W - The World of All Creatures Great & Small: Welcome to Skeldale House by James Steen with a foreword by Jim Wight - I absolutely love this tv series adaptation and the classic stories as well. It's just going to be nice to read about the behind the scenes of the show.
A - The Ancient Near East, Volume II: A New Anthology of Texts and Pictures edited by James B. Pritchard - I had the first volume on my 2024 challenge tbr, so it will be interesting to read this as well.
Y - Yale Needs Women: How the First Group of Girls Rewrote the Rules of an Ivy League Giant by Anne Gardiner Perkins - I've been eyeing this at my library for ages. It sounds like a must read piece of history.
S - Shadowplay: The Hidden Beliefs and Coded Politics of William Shakespeare by Clare Asquith - I found this at a thrift store and I think I'm going to like it.
ME
M - More Than Night: Film Noir In Its Contexts by James Naremore - When I spotted this a local new and used bookstore, I knew I had to pick this up because film noir is a favorite genre of mine.
E - Endless Night by Agatha Christie - It's been way too long since I've read this author and this sounds like a good place to jump back in. Plus, doesn't the cover just look so atmospheric?
What are you reading in July? If you'd like to participate in the Spell It Out Reading Challenge too just let me know. As always, thanks for visiting and perhaps even commenting down below!
