The Friday 56: Eva's Cousin by Sibylle Knauss

Welcome to The Friday 56, a weekly meme hosted by Freda's Voice.

These are the rules:
1. Grab a book, any book.
2. Turn to page 56, or 56% on your eReader.
3. Find any sentence (or a few, just don't spoil it) that grabs you.
4. Post it.
5. Add the URL to your post in the link on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post.

From page 56 of my current book club read:

Everything about her seemed like a false claim that could be upheld for only a limited amount of time. That was how I found Eva when I arrived in Berchtesgaden on the fifteenth of July 1944.

Comments

  1. The cover had me curious as soon as I saw it. I have known people that are not what they seem. When they put on the false face, they can't keep it up for long. The truth seems to always shine through...eventually.

  2. I'm intrigued by the book's setting -- Berchtesgaden, 1944. That alone makes me curious about this story. I hope you're enjoying it.
My Friday post features a legal thriller: BODILY HARM.

  4. What a striking book cover, you could gain a lot from just the title and the cover alone, the premise sounds promising too! Thanks for sharing this one :)

  5. The title had me curious about the cover. Nicely done. Don't we all hide behind our faces. Not always in a bad way though. Which makes me believe you can never really know a person.

  6. If that's Eva on the cover, she looks like Marilyn Monroe.
Eva sounds like a complex character.
    Happy weekend!
