Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Resolve To Read This Year

Happy Tuesday everyone - the first Tuesday of the New Year!  Wow!  I can't believe it's 2016 already.  This week's theme for Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, is Bookish Resolutions.  I'm going break it down a bit more and share with you the books that have been sitting on my tbr mountain for a long time that I'm resolving to read this year.  Here we go, in no particular order:

Sygillis of Metatron (The Leage of Elder #1) by Ren Garcia -  On the tbr mountain since May 22, 2013 (but I'm pretty sure I bought it in September of 2012).

Taliesin (The Pendragon Cycle #1) by Stephen R. Lawhead - On the tbr mountain since September 28, 2013.

The Cuckoo's Calling (Cormoran Strike #1) by Robert Galbraith - On the tbr mountain since July 14, 2013.

Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell - On the tbr mountain since April 13, 2013.

Hot Blooded (Jessica McClain #2) by Amanda Carlson - On the tbr mountain since January 13, 2013.

Quicksilver (The Baroque Cycle #1) by Neal Stephenson - On the tbr mountain since December 1, 2014.

Gregor the Overlander (Underland Chronicles #1) by Suzanne Collins - On the tbr mountain since October 23, 2012.

Wisconsin Vamp (Monsters in the Midwest #1) by Scott Burtness - On the tbr mountain since June 25, 2014.

Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell by Susana Clarke - On the tbr mountain since June 26, 2013.

What do you think of my list this week?  Have you read any of these, or do you have any suggestions and recommendations for me?  As always thanks for visiting and I appreciate all comments!

  1. Eleanor and Park is such a great one! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

In my own opinion, physical fitness is a complex state. It is a definition of how a person lives his or her life. It is an enigmatic evidence of feeling great from inside out. It is a result of discipline, hard work, humility, curiosity, and perseverance. These characteristics, for me, are the main ingredients in becoming successful in your fitness goals.

  5. I think calling it a TBR mountain (instead of a list or a pile) is scarily accurate. I too have had Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell sitting on my TBR for years but have no idea whether I'll get around to reading it this year. Although it was made into a mini-series, so maybe I could check that out as well. I also want to read a Neal Stephenson book this year - each time I tried to pick up one of his books last year, I got too intimidated to actually start the book!

    1. The trailer for Jonathan Strange and Mr. Not tell looked really good, so I'd like to try reading it. I've actually listened to three of Stephenson's books on audio - Snow Crash, Diamond Age, and Seveneves - and the productions of each was amazing. Lots of cassettes and cds to go through though... :) Thanks for sharing!

  8. I've not read any of these, but there are some I've wanted to. Like Eleanor and Park, as well as the Gregor series. Also, anything by Lawhead is good. . . long, but good. ;)

I want to to finish the Two Towers this year. Last year, I'd pick it up sporadically and read here and there. But I always "Oo, shiny" at some other book and get distracted. :P

  10. I loved Eleanor & Park and read it about 2 years ago. I have never seen Wisconsin Vamp before but it looks so quirky I just had to add it to my wishlist!

  11. I've tried reading Lawhead and had a hard time getting into him- I hope you have better luck than me. I like the idea of his books, they always make me want to read them, but just haven't had luck so far.

  12. Great list, I've only read two of those! Strange & Norrell was a lot of hard work, I read it twice over two months when it first came out and then read it again over a week almost 10 years later. Amazing, but so so many footnotes.

  15. The Cuckoo's Calling is a great book and all you have to do is read one book each month and you'll have achieved your resolutions! Good luck, you'll be in for a lot of happy reading hopefully :-)

  16. There are a lot of books that have been buried under a pile of TBR books I've added through the years. I actually just read Gregor the Overlander this past November. It was good, but probably not my favorite MG read. Hope you get to all these books this year!
