The Last Days of Jack Sparks by Jason Arnopp - Review

❋  ❋  ❋  ❋  ❋ Jack Sparks, the controversial pop culture journalist, died while writing his newest book on the supernatural. He was called many things - from a talentless hack to a fearless rebel - but either way his unexpected death was a shock to everyone. First, he fired up a huge storm on Twitter after mocking an exorcism he witnessed in rural Italy. Then, there was the creepy thirty-six second video posted to his YouTube channel that he swears had nothing to do with him in the least. This book chronicles his journey to unravel the mystery behind the video footage as he gets sucked deeper and deeper into the supernatural world by compiling files found after he died. Only one thing is for certain, Jack doesn't live to tell his tale. The Last Days of Jack Sparks by Jason Arnopp is easily one of my favorite reads of 2016. I had seen several great reviews for this novel, but I was totally sold on it after I read Tammy @ Books, Bones, Buffy's review. After th...

Their Fractured Light (Starbound #3) by Amie Kaufman and Megan Spooner - Review

❋  ❋  ❋  ❋  ❋ Gideon is a top computer hacker also known as The Knave of Hearts in Corinth's underworld. He will do just about anything to get past security measures and do hacks that others wouldn't dare try. Sofia is a quite the con artist and can talk you into doing anything that she wants you to do. She's out for revenge as she holds LaRoux Industries responsible for her father's strange death. Both Gideon and Sophia happen to be separately trying to infiltrate LRI when they are interrupted by a security breach and they quickly realize that they'll have to work together to escape. They don't trust each other and they have their own reasons to take down LRI, but if they work together they just might be able to expose whatever secrets LRI doesn't want to get out. Their Fractured Light by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner is an excellent series finale! I think that it is my favorite book in the series, actually. While Gideon and Sophia are pretty g...

Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Thanksgiving Dishes

Happy Tuesday and welcome back to Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by  The Broke and the Bookish !  This weeks topic is a Thanksgiving freebie, so I'm electing to share with you some of my favorite holiday dishes. Meat: Turkey - Obviously, you can't go wrong with a nice juicy slice topped with a little gravy. Roadkill Deer in Buffalo Juice - I swear that this isn't nearly as bad as it sounds!  One year my uncle slow roasted venison in his gigantic homemade hog-roaster.  I'm not all that much of a venison person, but it actually turned out to be really delicious and surprised everybody.  My dad was actually the one who christened it... still have no idea where the "buffalo" came from since it wasn't spicy at all. Sides: Mashed Potatoes and Gravy - A staple.  When it comes to the gravy, though, I'm thinking of my grandma's.  I've never seen any gravy exactly like hers and I doubt you have either.  When it's piping hot, it ...

Rules: Every Monday share one or two of songs you've been enjoying lately.  It doesn't have to be a specific genre, new, or one of your favorites - just something you'd like to share with others.  If possible, share a music or lyric video of the song and your thoughts on the song(s), artist(s), and/or music video(s). If you would like to participate in Music Monday, please join the link up by sharing your post's url. This week I'm focusing on music from favorite sci-fi tv shows since this is Sci-Fi Month . The Time Tunnel  - This is the opening and closing theme to the tv series that isn't that well-remembered as it should be today.  I love all of the brass.  By the way, the show was scored by Johnny Williams .  Yes, that John Williams - the m...
