Bookish Book Lover Tag

I've just been nominated by Emily @ Ink, Inc. to complete the Bookish Book Lover Tag - thanks very much, Emily!  If you haven't checked out her blog, you're really missing out.

1. What book are you currently reading?

I'm currently got four in the works - Carry On by Rainbow Rowelll, The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater, The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware, and Spark by Brigid Kemmerer on audio.

2. What's the last book you finished?

I just recently finished Kill the Boy Band by Goldy Moldavsky on audio - I was surprised by how much I liked it.  The audiobook narrator definitely earns a full star for her performance alone!

3. Favorite book you read this year?

I always have a hard time choosing just one when it comes to a question like this, but it may very well be The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch.

4. What genre have you read most this year?

According to Goodreads, the answer is "other" but otherwise it's fantasy.  I can't say I'm surprised!

5. What genre have you read least this year?

I've read the least of mystery this year - I am actually kind of surprised...

6. What genre do you want to read more of?

Based on the answer to the previous question, I'm going to have to go with mystery!

7. How many books have you read this year, and what's your goal?

So far I've read 156 books of my 200 book Goodreads goal - nearly there!

8. What's the last book you bought?

Underground Airlines by Ben H. Winters

9. What book are you saving up to buy next?

Nevernight by Jay Kristoff

10. How many books did you check out on your last library visit?

Only two - but it can be a challenge not to check out lots more (I'm a librarian, so I'm at the library all the time).

11. What's a book you can't wait to read?

Both A Gathering of Shadows and This Savage Song by V(ictoria). E. Schwab

12. What's a series you'd recommend to everyone?

William Ritter's Jackaby series

13. Who's an author you're hoping writes more?

William Ritter - either more Jackaby or anything, really!

14. A few books your heart adores?

Rick Yancey's four book Monstrumologist series - it deserves more attention!

15. What series' coming conclusion makes you sad?

I really don't want The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater to end, so I'm taking my time with the finale.

16. What books are on your wishlist?

A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir

The Reader by Traci Chee

The Female of the Species by Mindy McGinnis

Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake\

Heartless by Marissa Meyer

I tag:

  1. I'm back from New York and so I am back to blogging again. I took my iPad with me instead of my computer and I just had fits with it and blogger so I gave up and essentially went on a blackout. Sorry I haven't been a very good comment partner for the week. I sure have lots of books on my TBR pile but now, after this post, have more. Wow. 200 books in a year? Amazing.

    1. That's alright - I hope you had a good time in New York otherwise.

Seriously, I don't know how I manage to cram it all in - probably has something to do with the audiobooks I listen to while driving. :)

  2. I've heard a lot about Jackaby, I have to read it ><

  3. I've only read the first book in the Monstrumologist series but I loved it to death! I agree, it needs to get out there more.

I really, really, really need to read both Jackaby and Lies of Locke Lamora! I actually just bought a copy of Locke Lamora and had it shipped to school so it will be there to greet me the first day of classes, haha.

    1. Woo! I really hope you'll love Locke! :)

I kind of wish The Monstrumologist had received the same kind of attention that his 5th Wave series did.

  4. You've featured so many fantastic books in your post- I definitely recommend both Victoria Schwab books! I totally understand what you mean about not wanting The Raven Cycle to end; it's one of my favorite series ever, and as hard as I tried to savor every page of The Raven King, I couldn't turn the pages fast enough because I needed to know what happened next!

  5. Haha I've read fantasy the most this year too! I'm trying to diversify but fantasy is just my happy place :D I really want to read A Gathering of Shadows and This Savage Song too! They both have such beautiful covers (the contrast of red, black, and white on the AGOS cover is gorgeous) and they seem to be getting good reviews so hopefully I'll be able to read them soon! Thanks for the tag, Lauren!

  6. Four books!? Wow, you've got things together. :) There's a lot of books here that look amazing. I can not wait to read This Savage Song one day. Oh, and Heartless! Good post!

  7. Cannot wait for Heartless! Fantasy's pretty much been my most-read this year as well, but that isn't really a surprise.

And yessss A Gathering of Shadows was THE BEST. I loved it to pieces. I hope you enjoy that once you get to it :D
