The Book Sacrifice Tag

I've been nominated by TT @ Intro To Blurb to complete The Book Sacrifice Tag!  Thanks so much, TT!  Everyone should stop by his blog, if they haven't already!

1. An Over-Hyped Book

Situation: You’re in a store when the zombie apocalypse hits. The military informs everyone that over-hyped books are the zombies only weakness. What book that everyone else says is amazing but you disliked do you start chucking at the zombies?

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi - I just didn't get the appeal of this one.

2. A Sequel

Situation: A torrential downpour. What sequel are you willing to use as an umbrella to protect yourself?

Glass Sword (Red Queen #2) by Victoria Aveyard - While I liked the first book well enough, this one was disappointing in comparison.

3. A Classic

Situation: You’re in English class and your professor raves about a Classic that “transcends time”. If given the opportunity to travel back in time, which Classic would you try to stop from ever publishing?

Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand - I have no interest in reading this one after how angry The Fountainhead made me.

4. A Least Favorite Book

Situation: Apparently global warming = suddenly frozen wasteland. Your only hope of survival for warmth is to burn a book. Which book will you not regret lighting?

Thief of Lies (Library Jumpers #1) by Brenda Davis - This was one of my most anticipated reads of the year, and it just fell flat for me - easily one of my least favorite reads of the year.  If only it didn't so closely parallel City of Bones and focused more on the library jumping and less on the romance.

  1. I haven't come across this tag before, but I really like the sound of it. I love it when we get opportunities to share unpopular options because as much as I love books, sometimes there are those books that I equally hate. Still baffled by Shatter Me's popularity, but to each their own. Great answers, Lauren. Thank you and I look forward to doing this tag!

    1. Sometimes it's just fun to vent, but you're 100% right - to each their own! :)

I'm looking forward to your post!

  2. I love this tag on YouTube! I can't wait to fill it out myself. Thanks for the tag! I loved your answers, as well. I read The Fountainhead very young, perhaps too young to understand it on a critical level. But I do remember being quite shocked at the sexual assault scene and how the author explained it.

    1. I've never seen a video of this one before - I'll have to look that up! :)

I had to read The Fountainhead for to apply for AP English in high school - and I couldn't stand it...

  3. I've never heard of Shatter Me before! (I always mange to miss the hype and then somehow find the book 3 eons later) I assume, since you're using it as zombie fodder, that it didn't live up to your hopes? Maybe it's good I've never heard of it!

I'm about to start the Red Queen series; I've heard the first book is really great, and then the second becomes very laggy - would you agree?

    1. I didn't really know what to expect when I started Shatter Me, but I know now that I don't want to continue the series any time soon. (The link is attached to my review, by the way.)

The first Red Queen book is good especially if you like The X-Men and The Hunger Games, but I wouldn't call it great. (My review for Glass Sword is linked.) Either way, I hope you will like them.

  4. I never thought about what books I would sacrifice, fun tag.

  5. Thanks again for tagging me Lauren! This tag is actually one of my favorites around the blogosphere. I remember your review for Thief of Lies and I haven't thought about picking it up since! XD I'm in the middle of Red Queen now, but I find it very cliche. Hopefully I'll like the second book more than you did! Awesome picks. :D

    1. Haha! :)

I know what you mean about Red Queen - not all that original - but hope you enjoy them and I'll be interested to see your reviews!

  6. I'm so excited thank you for tagging me! Of the two books I've read- Shatter Me and Glass Sword- I completely agree that they'd be sacrificial.

  7. This tag is hilarious! I like how it gives you situations to work with. I'll see about staying away from some of these books. :)

  8. Thanks for the tag! Will have to do this as well, it looks fun!

And lol, I actually had to read The Fountainhead in high school. I admittedly enjoyed it, though I suppose it helped that I didn't take the philosophy of the book seriously >_>. I do agree about stopping Rand from publishing Atlas Shrugged. Or at least stopping the editor from letting Rand write so darn much about a lot of nothing.

    1. No problem!

I think what made me angrier was actually having to sit down and write a paper on it to attempt entry into AP English.

  9. Thank you for tagging! I haven't read any of these and ... I have no desire to! XD
