Happy Tuesday everyone! Welcome to the Top Ten Tuesday now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is a Halloween Freebie and I'm going to feature horror movies I want to watch this season to get into the Halloween Spirit. All of the movies on my list are movies I've never seen before and hope to watch for the first time this season. Here we go, in alphabetical order by title:
American Psycho (2000) - I've always lumped this together with Fight Club but I prefer this one. The dark and cynical sense of humor and Bale's performance make it work.
As Above So Below (2014) - I liked this more than I expected to. It starts pretty unique but the last quarter of the movie wasn't the best. It's especially interesting if you know your Dante.
A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night (2014) - One of my new favorite vampire movies and it features a really good kitty cat. I should have watched this years ago.
Housebound (2014) - I'm still waiting on my library hold for this but it sounds like it will be great.
Near Dark (1987) - This is another new favorite vampire movie that I should have watched ages ago. I definitely prefer this to The Lost Boys and Bill Paxton totally wins this round for me.
Satanic Panic (2019) - Ended up not quite being for me, but the lead actress does a good job.
The Skin I Live In (2011) - You have to see this and you have to go in blind. It needs to be experienced.
Spree (2020) - I watched for Joe Keery and he didn't disappoint.
Thirst (2009) - My library copy came in but the disc was scratched very badly so I'm still waiting for this one.
The Transfiguration (2016) - I was expecting something much different and better, but I'm glad I agree with the main character that Let The Right One In is one of the best vampire movies.
Have you watched any of these movies? What movies are you going to watch to get in the spirit for Halloween? As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!
I watched As Above So Below and I didn't like it that much but my sister absolutely loves it. I think it was quite interesting though although not exactly for me I guess. I've also been hoping to watch American Psycho. But then I'm not the biggest movie type of person so I barely watch them in the first place.
ReplyDeleteI didn't have particularly high expectations going into As Above So Below, but it ended up mostly working for me. America Psycho is pretty fantastic. I hiope you enjoy when you get to it. :)
DeleteI haven't seen any of these but love the look of some of them. I had to look twice to see if that was Antonio Banderas in that one!
ReplyDeleteThat's him - and it's a pretty impressive movie!
DeleteThese sound interesting. I haven't watched any of them.
ReplyDeleteThey're worth watching. :)
DeleteGreat list! I haven't heard of most of these, but A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night looks really interesting.
ReplyDeleteIt's a new favorite! I bet you'd enjoy it, Jess. :)
DeleteGreat list, and I can't believe I haven't watched any of these! The one thats calling to me the most is A Girl Walks Alone at Night😁
ReplyDeleteIt's so unique. I have a feeling it'd be right up your alley, Tammy.
DeleteA Girl Walks Home Alone at Night sounds good.
ReplyDeleteMy post.
One of the best! :)
DeleteI've been wanting to watch As Above So Below for years even though I've heard mixed things about it. Maybe I'll get to watch it this year.
ReplyDeleteIt mostly worked for me. I'd like to know what you think of it if you give it a shot.
DeleteI don't watch horror movies but I liked seeing the poster for the movies. Here is my post-https://paigesofbook.blogspot.com/2020/10/top-ten-tuesday-books-that-remind-me-of.html.
ReplyDeleteThey're pretty creative. Thanks for sharing!
DeleteI LOVE American Psycho!! I hope you have a blast getting in the Halloween mood :)
ReplyDeleteHere's my post: https://www.nbiblioholic.com/2020/10/toptentuesday-halloween-freebie.html
Thanks! It's been a good month!
DeleteI cannot believe I have not seen any of these. Now if we were talking 80s slasher flicks, I have seen them all. Hope they all get your heart pumping.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I've seen a lot of those myself. :)
DeleteI'm really wanting more monster movies to be released. Like "Mimic" and "The Relic" from the late 90s.
ReplyDeleteI still need to see those.
DeleteI can't stand watching horror movies, so I definitely haven't seen any of these. Haven't heard of many of them either. The poster for Thirst looks so creepy... It's good you've enjoyed most of them though, and I hope you're able to get the remaining ones before the Halloween season gets too far out of sight!
ReplyDeleteI've got one to go now. :)
DeleteSo yeah, I would not necessarily willingly ever watch movies like this, but The Skin I live in with Antonio Banderas really has me curious!
ReplyDeleteHe's pretty great in it.
DeleteAmerican Psycho is a great one! I recently watched it within the last 2 years and I regret not watching it sooner. Oh gosh, I feel like As Above So Below is ALWAYS on tv lolol I've watched it too many times and I don't really like it? It's just on so I watch haha. I actually haven't heard of many on this list which is odd for me since I watch so many horror movies! I'll have to check them out :)
ReplyDeleteI've never seen As Above So Below on tv before but then again I just get the over the air broadcast channels. I liked it well enough this first time but not enough to see it again I don't think.
DeleteI don't watch horror movies! But I do like spooky kind of films like Corpse Bride. I've not seen Nightmare Before Christmas though and I really need to!
ReplyDeleteYes, you need to. It's so much fun!
DeleteNope, sorry, these all look way too scary for me! Nightmare Before Christmas is more my speed when it comes to Halloween movies...
ReplyDeleteAnd it's pretty great as a Christmas movie too. :)
DeleteI really want to see American Psycho - people keep telling me how funny it is, which I'll have to see to believe!
ReplyDeleteYes, I was really surprised by that and how much it works!
DeleteArgh no! I love a horror book but I can’t watch horror films! The stupid thing is I can happily watch the Walking Dead but give me something like Halloween and I’ll be behind the couch.
ReplyDeleteI guess I got started on them young! :)
DeleteI must admit to having never seen any of these! I am such a fail at movies, honestly! But I do hope you get the chance to watch them soon!
ReplyDeleteSo far I've had pretty decent luck with them.
DeleteI used to watch horror movies all the time, but I've kind of avoided them this year. Housebound, however, might just get me to break that streak. It sounds fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI just finished it and it is easily a new favorite. I hope you enjoy it!
DeleteI hope you enjoy them! I haven’t watched any scary movies so far this year. I have watched a few cute Halloween movies. I guess having a toddler in the house interferes with my horror movie addiction.
ReplyDeleteI suppose that could do out. Don't want to scar them too soon! :)
