2025 Popsugar Reading Challenge - Update #2

Happy Saturday everyone and welcome to my second 2025 Popsugar Reading Challenge update with mini reviews!   In February, I read 4 books for a total of 17 completed out of 50.  I'd say I'm doing pretty well so far.  Keep reading to see my thoughts on the books I read in February:

 ❋
I'm glad I finally read The Indian in the Cupboard (The Indian in the Cupboard #1) by Lynne Reid Banks. It's been ages since I've seen the movie adaptation of it, but I remember really enjoying it way back when. I don't know if I'd love it as much now as I used to, but honestly I think I prefer the movie adaptation. I didn't even know it was an adaptation until pretty recently. I definitely preferred movie Little Bear to his book counterpart. The two most surprising things about this: it's very English and Brock Cole, the illustrator, went to Kenyon College. The Kenyon thing is surprising since it might as well be in my backyard as it's in Gambier, Ohio. I don't know if I'm quite interested in reading the rest of the novel series, but I would like to rewatch the movie.

My review is on Goodreads and The StoryGraph.

 ❋
Well, I don't really have a much to say about All the King's Men by Robert Penn Warren.  But given the political situation in my country now, it was a wild choice (and experience) to read it now.

My review is also on Goodreads and The StoryGraph.

 ❋
Lament: The Faerie Queens Deception (Books of Faerie #1) by Maggie Stiefvater is a good YA fantasy faerie story, but I wouldn't call it a favorite from the genre or the author. If you like the author though, it's worth trying. I will say though that the main character did make me feel awfully old, but I do want to listen to some harp music now.  I do hope to continue this series soon.

My review is also on Goodreads and The StoryGraph.

 ❋
I definitely preferred The Salt Grows Heavy by Cassandra Khaw to Nothing But Blackened Teeth, but the style just wasn't quite for me. I will say though that I'm glad I listened to it on audiobook. The narrator did a good job bringing it to life.  If you're looking for a horror fantasy mermaid story, you might want to check this one out.

My review is also on Goodreads and The StoryGraph.

Have you read any of these books?  Are you taking part in this challenge?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!
