"This or That?" Tag

I've been tagged by TT @ Intro to Blurb to complete the "This or That?" Tag!  Thanks very much for the nomination, TT!  You should all go check out his blog, it's pretty great!

Reading on the bed, or on the couch?

I do like to read on the couch, but I reading in bed all warm and wrapped up in the blankets is much nicer.

Male, or female main character?

It doesn't really matter to me as long as they're well-written.

Sweet, or salty snacks while reading?

Salty - I'd much prefer to have some chips, pretzels, or popcorn while reading rather than something sweet.  Although I wouldn't say no to a sweet snack...

Trilogies, or quartets?

Usually, I seem to go for trilogies, but honestly if there's more of the story that needs to be told I'm all for more.

First-person, or third-person POVs?

My favorite is third-person, although that can sometimes make you feel more distant from the characters.  Otherwise, though, I wouldn't say no to first-person or second-person at all - as long as all types of perspectives are done well.

Reading at night, or in the morning?

Anytime, really!

Bookstores, or libraries?

Well, I'm a librarian so I'm definitely going to say libraries.  But, I do love to buy personal copies of books - I even have my favorite local bookstore.  I must say, I shouldn't be trusted in a bookstore with a credit card.

Books that make you laugh, or cry?

Definitely laugh - I'm not going to specifically go into a book looking to cry.  But like TT said, if a story can connect on such a level with me - good job author.  [I balled like a baby at Inside Out - Oh, Bing Bong!!!)

Black, or white book covers?

Only black or white?  I'd rather have a pop of color.

Character, or plot-driven stories?

I'd like to have the best of both worlds - awesome characters with a brilliantly orchestrated plot.

  1. Awesome response, I'm so glad you gave this a go!!
I love what you put for the trilogies question - I completely agree: quartets are perfectly acceptable if there is still more story that you believe should be told, but other than that, I'd plump for trilogies. (I am also growing to dislike quartet movies - don't split up your last book into two films, please and thank you!!)

I'm glad you balled in Inside Out too - makes me feel like less of a baby! It was actually a surprisingly good film, aha! Probably one of the best I watched in 2015!

    1. Thanks again for tagging me! :)

I know exactly what you mean about quartet movies - it's really only worked in one case, Harry Potter. Also "plump for"?? I can't say I've ever heard that phrase.

I agree - Inside Out was easily one of my favorite movies of the year.

  2. Wow, nice turn around, from when TT tagged you to doing it! :D
Anyway, yeah I'm the same, it doesn't matter when I read, so long as I do read haha xD I usually read more at night though, just because that's when I have the most free time :)

    1. Haha - I actually happened to be online right when I was tagged! :)

My schedule can be pretty crazy - so I tend to read whenever I can get the time.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Thanks for the tag, Lauren! I'd definitely rather read a book that will make me laugh too! Crying books are great and all, but I prefer them few and far between. They just make me sad :( That gif of Sadness though!! I love Inside Out :D

  4. Awesome answers!

Yeah, I don't really have a preference for male or female characters either. As long as they're well-written, that's all I ask. :)

Oh, and pretzels do make very good snack material, as well as dried mangoes.

I haven't had dried mangoes in a long time...or, dried pineapples - those are so good! :)
