Read Around the World Challenge: Europe - March Update

Happy Tuesday (and April Fools Day) everyone!  Today, I'm sharing my third update and mini reviews for the Read Around the World Challenge.  Of the 46 books for the 46 European countries on my original tbr, I managed to complete 4 in March for a total of 12 completed so far.  You can check out my profile here on the challenge website here.  Keep reading to see my thoughts on the books I read this month:

I liked The Metamorphosis but The Trial by Franz Kafka just didn't quite work out for me in the same way.  If you're looking for a bleak dystopia where it's more guilty until proven innocent than anything else, you might want to try this.

My review is also on Goodreads and The StoryGraph.

âť‹ âť‹
With Palace: My Life in the Royal Family of Monaco by Christian Louis de Massy, I thought I was getting an autobiography about Christian Louis de Massy, not mainly drama featuring Grace Kelly, Rainier, and Caroline with a few little details about Monaco.

My review is also on Goodreads and The StoryGraph.

âť‹ âť‹ âť‹
Happiness and Other Small Things of Absolute Importance by Haim Shapira is a thoughtful little book, but one I honestly think I would have preferred to hear in like a TED Talk format. Also, I have to admit that when the author began to discuss The Little Prince so much that put me off a bit since I'm not a fan of that story.

My review is also on Goodreads and The StoryGraph.

âť‹ âť‹ âť‹ âť‹
The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides is a suspenseful mystery thriller that I've been meaning to read for quite awhile now.  I can honestly say that I don't quite get the hype surrounding this novel especially still 6 years on, but I still had a good time.  I did start to lose me a little bit as it went on and I don't think it needed to be quite as long as it is, but it starts off strongly.  I think I'll have to try other books from the author in the future.

My review is also on Goodreads and The StoryGraph.

Have you read any of these books?  Are you participated in this challenge?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  1. I'm not taking part in this challenge, but I do love the sound of it. Maybe next year (and I can steal some TBR books from your posts lol)!
