Book Riot's 2022 Read Harder Challenge - August Update: The Color Purple & Sissy

Happy Wednesday everyone!  I hope everyone's been doing well.  These months just seem to be flying by!  Anyway, I've now completed the 16 tasks of  Book Riot's 2022 Read Harder Challenge .  The tasks I completed this month required me to r ead a classic written by a POC  and memoir written by someone who is trans or nonbinary  and I selected  The Color Purple  by Alice Walker  and  Sissy: A Coming-Of-Gender Story  by Jacob Tobia  respectively.   Read on to see my mini reviews and what's coming up for September: ❋   ❋  ❋  ❋ The Color Purple  by Alice Walker  is a must read. It took me a bit to get into the style at first, but by the end it had really pulled me right in. I have a feeling that I might have preferred to listen to the audiobook edition a little bit more.  Hearing it might have helped me get into the style a little easier.  Either way, if you haven't read this yet you'll have to get to it. My review is also on Goodreads . ❋   ❋  ❋ Sissy: A Coming-Of-G

Mythothon: Theseus and the Minotaur - Announcement & TBR

Happy Saturday everyone! Today, I'm sharing my TBR for  Mythothon  which is a mythology themed readathon that will run for the entire month of September.  It is hosted by  Louise @ Foxes and Fairy Tales  and this round (officially the seventh) is based on Theseus and the Minotaur of Greek mythology.  In this readathon, we’ll follow the story of Theseus, and his victory in the labyrinth. Will we make it to safety, or be devoured by the minotaur?   Group Book:  Ariadne by Jennifer Saint - The group book is not required, but I've had this on my tbr for quite awhile and it sounds really good. We start at the circle in the middle of the spiral–our story starts with Poseidon, God of the Sea–then work our way out until we face the minotaur, freeing ourself from the labyrinth. Defeat the minotaur to complete the readathon. Completely optional, are the three Extra Prompts, which will let us finish off the story.  There are also have to two Life Savers we can take advantage of if needed
