This week I'm sharing two songs that I didn't expect to like for various reason. The first is John Mayer's newest single, "Love on the Weekend," from his upcoming album. I wouldn't say I like him, or at least his more recent stuff, but I really surprised myself here. Admittedly it does remind me of his older stuff which I prefer. Next is Niall Horan's first solo song, "This Town". In case you've been living under a rock for the last few years, Horan is a part of One Direction. That there is one reason I didn't expect to care for it. However, the radio DJ didn't announce the song before I heard it for the first time and I immediately found myself humming along. Of course, afterward when I learned who it was I was mildly disappointed with myself... but I have to admit, it's still a pretty decent song.
I haven't listened to a John Mayer song since his Room for Squares album. I think I kind of forgot he existed. heh.
ReplyDeleteAre all the guys from One Direction going Solo now?
Yeah, I kind of did too!
DeleteAt least two are, I guess.
When I first saw the names of these songs, honestly, I didn't think I would like them either. But, actually, they're pretty good. Thanks for sharing! :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't blame you there! Glad you actually like them, though! :)
DeleteI'm surprised I liked Niall Horan's song because I mostly listen to rock and dubstep!

I know, right!
DeleteThanks for visiting, Wren!
I was disappointed with myself when I loved This Town too! I don't want One Direction to break up even more because they make such great music together but I can't deny that Niall has a good ear for lyrics and melody!

He definitely does. :)
