Summer of Horror 2026 - The Friday 56 (With Book Beginnings): The Dead of Summer (The Dead of Summer #1) by Ryan La Sala
On Friday's I take part in two weekly link ups - The Friday 56, currently hosted by Anne @ My Head Is Full of Books, and Book Beginnings, hosted by Rose City Reader. For The Friday 56, you choose a book, a book you have just finished, a book you are about to start, your current read, and share a line or a few lines that grab you (but don't spoil anything) from page 56 or 56% of the way through the ebook. Post it and share your post's url on Anne's most recent Friday 56 post. As for Book Beginnings, you share the first sentence or so and your initial thoughts, impressions, or whatever else it inspires, and then link up your post's url with Rose City Reader.
Happy Friday everyone! This week I'm spotlighting one of my Summer of Horror 2026 (hosted by Tammy @ Books, Bones & Buffy), The Dead of Summer (The Dead of Summer #1) by Ryan La Sala. I've only read a short story from this author so far and I need to try more. They all sound good, so I'm hoping it's as good as it sounds.
Beginning:
Two Days Before
Smile big enough and you'll end up with tears on your teeth!
56:
I knew my mom was going to die when she sat me down one August evening last year and told me we were going on vacation, because we didn't go on vacation.
What are you reading in June? Have you read this book? As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting below!

I haven't read La Sala yet but definitely want to! Enjoy😁
ReplyDeleteWhy would her mother die if they went on vacation? That is a chilling thought.
