Happy Monday everyone and welcome back to Music Monday! Let's share some songs we've been enjoying lately!  If you would like to play and I really hope you do, please see the rules and link up below. Rules: Every Monday share a few songs you've been enjoying lately.  It doesn't have to be a specific genre, new, or one of your favorites - just something you'd like to share with others.  If possible, share a music or lyric video of the song and your thoughts on the song(s), artist(s), and/or music video(s). If you would like to participate in Music Monday, please join the link up by sharing your post's url. Have I ever mentioned mentioned how much I love For King & Country ?  All of their songs are fantastic, but I think these two - God Only Knows and Burn the Ships  - are my favorites from their most recent album.  Give them a listen below: You are invited to the Inlinkz link party! Sunday Funday: ARC Mini Reviews - Breaking the Lore, No Country For Old Gnomes, & The Raven's Tale

Happy Sunday everyone!  Today I'm sharing three ARC mini reviews with you:  Breaking the Lore ( Inspector Paris Mystery #1) by Andy Redsmith  (available April 15th, 2019),  No Country For Old Gnomes ( The Tales of Pell #2) by Kevin Hearne and Delilah S. Dawson  (available April 16th, 2019), and  The Raven's Tale by Cat Winters  (available April 16th, 2019).  Thank you very much to NetGalley for providing me with these ARCs in exchange for my honest reviews.  Read on to see my thoughts on these novels: ❋  ❋  ❋  ❋ Breaking the Lore is Andy Redsmith's clever debut novel and it's the first book in his Inspector Paris Mystery series. Nick Paris is a seasoned detective in Manchester, England who is all about logic on the job (and he drinks more than he ought to), so when finds himself investigating the murder of a 15cm tall fairy he's at a total loss. Nick doesn't believe in magic, but if he wants to solve thi...

The Friday 56 (With Book Beginnings): The Seven-Per-Cent Solution by Nicholas Meyer + 50/50 Friday

On Friday's I take part in three weekly link ups - The Friday 56, hosted by  Freda's Voice , Book Beginnings, hosted by  Rose City Reader , and 50/50 Friday is a new weekly link up and it is hosted by  Carrie @ The Butterfly Reader  and  Laura @ Blue Eye Books . For The Friday 56, you choose a book, a book you have just finished, a book you are about to start, your current read, and share a line or a few lines that grab you (but don't spoil anything) from page 56 or 56% of the way through the ebook. Post it and share your post's url on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post. As for Book Beginnings, you share the first sentence or so and your initial thoughts, impressions, or whatever else it inspires, and then link up your post's url with Rose City Reader. Then, for 50/50 Friday, every week there's a new topic featuring two sides of the same coin - you share a book that suits each category and link up on the hosts blogs. This week I'm spotl...

Top Ten Tuesday: Outrageous B-Movies I've Seen On Svengoolie

Happy Tuesday everyone!  Welcome to the Top Ten Tuesday now hosted by  That Artsy Reader Girl .  This week's topic is Outrageous Things I’ve Done for the Love of Books (i.e. skip meals, camped outside a bookstore, broke up with someone because they don’t like books, etc. – submitted by Aggie’s Amygdala ).  I'm doing something a bit different this week since I can't really come up with anything aside from stay up late.  Anyway, I'm sharing some Outrageous B-Movies I've Seen On Svengoolie.  If you follow me on Twitter , you'll know that I like to tweet along with the show on MeTV.  Sometimes they'll play something really awesome, but then other times you'll get something really ridiculous and the tweets really make the whole thing better.  Here we go, in alphabetical order by title: The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T   (1953) - This is the only time Dr. Seuss wrote for a live action film and it is just about as deranged and nightmarish as...

Music Monday: Capaldis

Happy Monday everyone and welcome back to Music Monday! Let's share some songs we've been enjoying lately!  If you would like to play and I really hope you do, please see the rules and link up below. Rules: Every Monday share a few songs you've been enjoying lately.  It doesn't have to be a specific genre, new, or one of your favorites - just something you'd like to share with others.  If possible, share a music or lyric video of the song and your thoughts on the song(s), artist(s), and/or music video(s). If you would like to participate in Music Monday, please join the link up by sharing your post's url. I don't know how I missed this musician until now, but Lewis Capaldi is incredibly talented.  Seriously, just listen to Someone You Love (2018) .  By the way, he's a cousin to Peter Capaldi - how cool is that!  On that note, I'm also sharing the scene of the Doctor's axe fight on a tank in The Magician's Apprentice from the first...

Sunday Funday: Beat The Backlist 2019 - Update #1 & Mini Reviews

Happy Sunday everyone!  This year I've been participating in the  Novel Knight's Beat The Backlist 2019 challenge .  It's pretty simple - it's all about reading backlist books (so published in 2018 or earlier) and it lasts all year long.  You can see my challenge tbr here .  Anyway, this is my first check in for the challenge where I'm focusing on reading the books I own that were published before 1999.  So far I've read 8 of the 36 on my tbr.  I think I'm off to a good start!  Keep reading to see my thoughts on the books I've already completed for this year's challenge: ❋  ❋  ❋  ❋ Japanese Mythology  by Juliet Piggott  is a fantastic introduction to the topic. It doesn't go into a whole lot of detail on everything, but it acts as a great primer on the folklore particularly when it comes to ghosts, gods, and places. It presents the information in short, concise, and entertaining tidbits. If you...
