Beat The Backlist 2024 - December Update

Happy Thursday everyone! Today I'm sharing my twelfth and final update for my December progress on the year long Beat The Backlist 2024 reading challenge, hosted by Austine Decker.  You can see my original tbr here.  In December, I completed 4 books for a total of 52 books completed out of 52 books on my tbr.  Without further ado, keep reading to see my thoughts on the books I read in December:

❋ ❋ ❋
The Stardust Thief (The Sandsea Trilogy #1) by Chelsea Abdullah was really cool! I'm going to have to come back for the sequel.  At least I won't have to wait very long for it's release.  If you're a fan of Shannon (S.A.) Chakraborty, you can't miss Chelsea Abdullah's debut fantasy novel.

My review is also on Goodreads.

❋ ❋ ❋ ❋

The Black Prism (Lightbringer #1) by Brent Weeks was awesome! It feels like I really must have flown through this.  I'm so glad I decided to take up all of the recommendations I've gotten for this book.  It's long, but it is well worth it.  I can't wait to read book 2 - The Blinding Knife here I come!

My review is also on Goodreads.

❋ ❋
Yes, I was pretty out of the loop with A Scandal in Battersea (Elemental Masters #12) by Mercedes Lackey but it was still good to see Sherlock Holmes and John Watson. Someday I'll have to try book one in this series and just plain read more from this author.  If you're a fan of historical fantasy or Holmes, you may want to try this story.

My review is also on Goodreads.

❋ ❋

Silver in the Bone (Silver in the Bone #1) by Alexandra Bracken is a solid YA fantasy. I absolutely love the idea of this and it starts off so well. That said it's 467 pages and it started to lose me a little around halfway through. I finished it and has a good ending, but honestly I don't think it held my interest enough to come back for book two no matter how much I enjoy Arthurian legend.

My review is also on Goodreads.

Did you participate in this challenge?  I plan on being back for next year's challenge so stay tuned for more soon.  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!
