Happy Sunday everyone! Today, I'm sharing my wrap up and mini reviews for Lightfall: Old Favour Pass 2024 which was of the Magical Readathon, hosted by G. @ Book Roast. It ran from Saturday, December 14th through Sunday, December 22nd (today), I'll be taking part in I managed to complete four of the seven books on my original tbr. Without further ado, let's get to my TBR:
2. Wallace's Wonderful Winter Wanimals - Book with aurora colors on the cover
Lady Macbeth by Ava Reid is a okay retelling of one of Macbeth which is one of my favorite Shakespeare plays. That said, though, I think I was hoping for and maybe even expecting something a little different than what I got. It has plenty of atmosphere that's for sure, but for Roscille (Lady Macbeth) herself I was hoping for more scheming and manipulation. I know this is a retelling, but I was hoping to be able to recognize more of Lady Macbeth in Roscille. I don't know if I'd really consider it a feminist retelling given everything that Roscille goes through. I also can't say i was expecting all the xenophobia either. Honestly, this would have been a two star read if it weren't for the audiobook production and Imani Jade Powers narration.

3. Shank & Shawl Legitimate Retailer - Book that will give you chills
❋ ❋ ❋ ❋
The Haunting of Gillespie House by Darcy Coates is a nice haunted house story with plenty of atmosphere. It's short and doesn't waste any time. I also enjoyed reading the other short stories included with this book. I'd say my favorite of them was "Light Outs." Mannequins are creepy and definitely unsettling!

4. Smith & Friends & Sons Arcane Goods & Such - Winter elements on the cover
❋ ❋
The Loop by Nicholas Evans has an intriguing central idea, but it's way too long and I couldn't get into any of the human characters. I realized about halfway through that I wanted the wolves to be the POV characters. I could have done without the drama as well which was starting to become almost that of a soap opera. This is my first book by this author so I didn't know what to expect at all.
My review is also on Goodreads.
7. The Rich Pigeon Pub - 2 or more authors
❋ ❋ ❋
The Seeker by David Bischoff and Christopher Lampton wasn't what I was expecting based on summary. I was much more interested in the first portion of the story featuring the human town dealing with aliens than I was the second part from the perspective of the aliens and their backstory. That second part ended up overtaking everything else, end unfortunately it was just a little boring.
My review is also on Goodreads.
