Mythothon: Theseus and the Minotaur - Announcement & TBR

Happy Saturday everyone! Today, I'm sharing my TBR for Mythothon which is a mythology themed readathon that will run for the entire month of September.  It is hosted by Louise @ Foxes and Fairy Tales and this round (officially the seventh) is based on Theseus and the Minotaur of Greek mythology.  In this readathon, we’ll follow the story of Theseus, and his victory in the labyrinth. Will we make it to safety, or be devoured by the minotaur?

Group Book:

Ariadne by Jennifer Saint - The group book is not required, but I've had this on my tbr for quite awhile and it sounds really good.

We start at the circle in the middle of the spiral–our story starts with Poseidon, God of the Sea–then work our way out until we face the minotaur, freeing ourself from the labyrinth. Defeat the minotaur to complete the readathon. Completely optional, are the three Extra Prompts, which will let us finish off the story.  There are also have to two Life Savers we can take advantage of if needed.  Without further delay, let's get on to my tbr!

Prompts to Defeat the Minotaur

1. Poseidon -
Read a book with a watery theme OR with blue on the cover.

My choice: Zodiac (Zodiac #1) by Romina Russell - This certainly has blue on the cover, but I might describe it as more celestial or spacy.  I'll also be reading this for my Popsugar Reading Challenge as well.

2. Pasiphae and the Minoan Bull - Read a book with a romance OR a book with a white cover.

My choice: Tash Hearts Tolstoy by Kathryn Ormsby - This is also one of the books I'll be reading for Book Riot's Read Harder Challenge.  I've had this on my tbr for way too long.

3. Daedalus and Icarus  - Read a book about a parent OR a book that will make you cry.

My choice: The Inexplicable Logic of My Life by Benjamin Alire Saenz - I know this will be awfully emotional!

4. Androgeus - Read a book with a game or competition.

My choice: Hide by Kiersten White - I don't know about you, but this sounds right up my alley!

5. Theseus Charges In - Read a YA book OR a book with a number in the title.

My choice: A Good Girl's Guide to Murder (A Good Girl's Guide to Murder #1) by Holly Jackson - I've heard so many good things about this and I can't wait to read it for myself.  Plus, I'll be reading this for my Popsugar Reading Challenge as well.

6. Ariadne - Read a book with gold foiling OR get help from a friend by asking for a recommendation.

My choice: Vanessa and Her Sister by Priya Palmer - A friend of mine recommended this one to me so I thought I'd give it a chance.

7. The Minotaur - Read a book with a battle OR a book with a weapon on the cover.

My choice: Sky of Swords (The King's Blades #3) by Dave Duncan - I know I haven't read the first two books in this series, but I've heard you can jump right in so I guess I'll see if that's right or not.  Either way, it sounds promising.

Extra Prompts to Complete the Tale

8. The Island of Naxos - Read a book with a party or celebration.

My choice: Hogfather (Discworld #20) by Terry Pratchett - I love this series and I can't believe I haven't read this one already.  I'll also be reading this one for my Popsugar Reading Challenge.

9. Aegeus and the Sails - Read a book you forgot about, from the back of your TBR.

My choice: The King's Cavalier by Samuel Shellabarger - I bought this ages ago at a used book store and it's been on my shelf for far too long.

10. King Theseus - Read a book about a hero OR a book from the POV of a villain.

My choice: Prisoner of the Daleks (Doctor Who: New Series Adventures #33) by Trevor Baxendale - You can't go wrong with the 10th Doctor!

Life Savers

Icarus’ feather - Fly over danger, use this feather to skip any one prompt entirely.

Ariadne’s golden - Use this thread to reveal a new route around danger: use any book you want to fill one challenge no matter what the prompt.

Are you taking part in this readathon challenge?  Have you read any of these books?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!
