Book Riot's Read Harder Challenge 2025 - July Update: The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern

Happy Saturday everyone!  I hope everyone's been doing well this month.  I've now completed 13 total tasks for Book Riot's 2025 Read Harder Challenge.  I completed one task in July which required me to read a standalone fantasy book and I selected The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern.  Read on to see my mini review and my plans for next month:

 ❋

The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern is a book I'd been putting off for a long time, but also really looking forward to given how much I loved The Night Circus. Unfortunately, it didn't really work for me like I'd hoped it would. I love the world, but I wish I liked following the characters or found myself hanging on to the plot. I will say this book is very dream like, in a good way, but also where you don't really know or remember what's going on, who the characters are and why they're doing what they're doing.

My review is also on Goodreads and The StoryGraph.

Next Up For August:

Read a comic in translation.

My choice: Days of Sand by Aimee de Jongh - I'm looking forward to trying this American 1930s Dust Bowl story which was originally published in French.

Read a genre-blending book.

My choice: Crownchasers (Crownchasers #1) by Rebecca Coffindaffer - I've been meaning to read this YA sci-fi fantasy series opener for far too long.  It's sounds really cool and it's been compared to things I've loved too.

Are you taking part in this challenge?  Have you read any of these books?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  1. Sorry The Starless Sea didn't work out. But Days of Sand looks good!
