Top Ten Tuesday: Books Set In The Old West

Happy Tuesday everyone!  Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday which is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.  This week's topic is Books Set in/Take Place During X and I've decided to features Books Set In The Old West.  I don't read Westerns all that often, but I do get a kick out of the genre when it's mixed with fantasy, horror, sci-fi, or steampunk elements which all of my picks are today.  Without further ado, here we go in alphabetical order by title:

Boneyard (Deadlands #3) by Seanan McGuire

The Curse of Jacob Tracy (Jacob Tracy #1) by Henry Messinger

Devils Unto Dust by Emma Berquist

The Doctor and the Rough Rider (Weird West Tales #3) by Mike Resnick

My Calamity Jane (The Lady Janies #3) by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows

Revenge and the Wild by Michelle Modesto

Six-Gun Snow White by Catherynne M. Valente

The Six-Gun Tarot (Golgotha #1) by R.S. Belcher

Wake of Vultures (The Shadow #1) by Lila Bowen

Walk the Earth a Stranger (The Gold Seerer Trilogy #1) by Rae Carson

What are some of your favorite books set in the Old West?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  1. Now that's a great genre blend! Six-Gun Snow White is a favorite of mine. But I had no idea Seanan McGuire had a book like Boneyard, so off to check that out!

  2. Hah I love this! I have not heard of any but Six-Gun Snow White and My Calamity Jane both look awesome. I like the Gunslinger series by Stephen King but I don't know if they would count as Old West?

  4. I can’t remember the last time I read a book set in the Old West, but I’d pick it up if it had horror, fantasy, or science fiction themes like the ones you mentioned. :)

  7. I also don't really read straight Western, but I enjoy when it's mixed with something else. Funny how that works! The Six-Gun Tarot looks really interesting!

  8. Great list. I don't really read Westerns, but they were my grandad's favourite so maybe I should try more. Boneyard looks terrifying!

  11. I don't usually read books on the old west, but I may have to try now. Quite a few of these look really good like Boneyard, Six Gun Snow White, and the Doctor and the Rough Rider. I do plan on reading the Lady Janies series, but have not started it yet, but hopefully soon. I also want to thank you for visiting my blog, A Fujoshi Reads.

  12. Seanan McGuire really does write all the things. I didn't realize she had written a book set in the old west. Cool!
