Book Riot's Read Harder Challenge 2026 - March Update: Killing Floor & Bat Eater and Other Names for Cora Zeng

Happy Saturday everyone!  I hope everyone's had a good March so far.  I've now completed 6 tasks for Book Riot's 2026 Read Harder Challenge.  The tasks I completed in March required me to read a book recently adapted for film, TV, or musical and a book featured on a ‘best book covers’ list.  I selected Killing Floor (Jack Reacher #1) by Lee Child and Bat Eater and Other Names for Cora Zeng by Kylie Lee Baker respectively.  Read on to see my mini reviews and my plans for next month:

 ❋ ❋
Killing Floor (Jack Reacher #1) by Lee Child is a book that has been recommended to me for years and I finally decided to give it a try.  I've already seen both the Tom Cruise movies and the first season of tv series on Prime Video.  I ended up liking those quite a bit, especially the tv show so far.  It turns out the show adapted this series really well, so that was a pleasant surprise.  I really had my eyes out for what I remember from season one.  I'm not sure if I want to continue the books, but I know I want to continue the tv series.

My review is also on Goodreads and The StoryGraph.

 ❋ ❋

Bat Eater and Other Names for Cora Zeng by Kylie Lee Baker is my first adult book by this author and it is a must read.  If you're interested in darkly creepy horror that has horrifying real world elements, this is one to try.  I haven't read many pandemic related books, but this is one can't be missed.  Be warned, though, it's a tough yet powerful one.

My review is also on Goodreads and The StoryGraph.

Next Up For April:

Read a nonfiction book about resistance

My choice: Madame Fourcade's Secret War: The Daring Young Woman Who Led France's Largest Spy Network Against Hitler by Lynne Olson - I've been eyeing this at my library for awhile now, so it's time to give it a try.

Read a nonfiction comic

My choice: Hyperbole and a Half by Allie Brosh - This has been on my radar forever.  It looks like it will be good.

Are you taking part in this challenge?  Have you read either of these books?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!
