The Friday 56 (With Book Beginnings): Blur (Blur Trilogy #1) by Steven James

Welcome to The Friday 56, a weekly meme hosted by Freda's Voice.

These are the rules:
1. Grab a book, any book.
2. Turn to page 56, or 56% on your eReader.
3. Find any sentence (or a few, just don't spoil it) that grabs you.
4. Post it.
5. Add the URL to your post in the link on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post.

I'm also taking part in Book Beginnings, a weekly meme hosted by Rose City Reader.  The rules are pretty simple - you share the first sentence or so and your initial thoughts, impressions, or whatever else it inspires.  Don't forget to link up your post's url with Rose City Reader.

This week I'm spotlighting one of my next reads, Blur (Blur Trilogy #1) by Steven James. A library coworker recommended this YA Mystery/ Suspense novel which was released last year.  She said it's one of the better lesser-known novels she's read recently and she had me interested right away.  It sounds like it could be fascinating and filled with mind-bending twists - exactly my kind of mystery!  I've never read anything by this author before, but I also want to check out his two other series sometime - The Patrick Bowers Files and The Jevin Banks Experience.

Book Beginning:

Daniel held up a blanket so that it hung vertically above his bed.  Stacy stood beside his desk, her back to the wall.  He noticed that she was tapping her fingers nervously against her leg.

"Alright," he said.  "Imagine that everything on your side of the blanket is reality.  Those are the things that you can see, taste, feel, whatever.  The things that are really there.  Everything on my side of the blanket is.."

"Just imaginary."  She finished his thought for him.  "All in your head."

56:

"So, you've got this deal going on with your thoughts wandering out of formation - maybe flying out of formation, something along those lines.  Who knows.  Any other impressions of what's happening - something to do with flight?"
