Top Ten Tuesday: Book Adaptations I Would Love To See

Happy Tuesday everyone!  Welcome to the Top Ten Tuesday now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.  This week's topic is Most Anticipated Book Releases for the First Half of 2020, but since I just recently shared my winter tbr featuring upcoming releases I'm doing something completely different.  I'm going to share books that I've read recently that I would love to see adapted into a movie or tv series.  Here we go, in alphabetical order by title:

An Assassins Guide to Love and Treason by Virginia Boecker - This was exactly the kind of historical fiction I love.  It's perfect for fans of Mackenzi Lee and A Knight's Tale.  It would be so much fun to see a film adaptation of this standalone.

The Girl With Ghost Eyes (The Daoshi Chronicles #1) by M.H. Boroson - This series is essentially Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Supernatural, Spirited Away, and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, so I have a feeling you can see why I'd like to spend more time with these characters on the big screen.

Jade City (The Green Bone Saga #1) by Fonda Lee - I would die for my clan and I would kill for a long lasting Netflix adaptation of this. I need to see the world of Kekon!

Kill the Queen (Crown of Shards #1) by Jennifer Estep - Move over Game of Thrones!

Night Terrors (Shadow Watch #1) by Tim Waggoner - This is basically Supernatural meets Men in Black and it was so much fun.  I wouldn't say know to a Netflix series adaptation this series.

The Spectral City (The Spectral City #1) by Leanna Renee Hieber - I've loved the first two books in this historical fantasy series and it would be so cool to see it get a Netflix adaptation.  Just think it's set 1899 features ghosts, mediums, and psychics as well as the police procedural aspect - even young Theodore Roosevelt appears in the series!

Strange Practice (Dr. Greta Helsing #1) by Vivian Shaw - I just finished this series and it was a marvelous gothic urban fantasy featuring that a present day descendant of that Helsing and her work as a highly specialized doctor to supernatural creatures.  Basically, I just need to see more of these characters.

A Study in Scarlet Women (Lady Sherlock #1) by Sherry Thomas - I'm a sucker for anything Holmesian and I think as a tv series this could rival my love of Jeremy Brett's take on the classic detective.

Trail of Lighting (The Sixth World #1) by Rebecca Roanhorse - This post-apocalyptic urban fantasy series is fabulous.  I need at least a five season tv show stat!

Westside by W.M. Akers - I loved this author's brand of alternate 1921 in this debut fantasy with a strong mystery.  I really enjoyed all the little details as well.  I think this could be made into a great movie with the right cast and crew behind it.

Have you read any of these books?  What books would you like to see adapted on the big or small screen?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog or perhaps even commenting down below!

  1. Great list! Trail of Lightning would be an amazing TV show, and I really want to cross Jade City off my TBR this year. An Assassin's Guide to Love and Treason is another one I'd like to get my hands on!

  8. Oooh, I love this idea! I'm so interested in Trail of Lightning, and even though I haven't read it yet, I'm totally on board with a film adaptation of it, please and thank you. xD Same with An Assassin's Guide to Love and Treason. Great list!

  9. I have a copy of Kill the Queen that I STILL need to read! I've only heard good things about it. A Study in Scarlet Women was a good read, although I didn't like the romance/lack thereof. He's married, so everything was icky.

    1. I hope you enjoy Kill the Queen when you get to it! You aren't wrong about A Study in Scarlet Women, but like I said I just can't resist Holmes.

  11. I've been hearing such great things about The Girl With Ghost Eyes lately. And Study in Scarlett Women has been on my TBR for a long time, so maybe I need to bump that up. Love your topic for this week (I guess last week now.)
