Sunday Funday: Book Haul

Happy Sunday everyone!  I hope everyone's staying safe and healthy.  Today, I thought I'd share the books I've bought since my last book haul post and another really cool bookish update.  I got lucky and caught some great deals at a local bookstore and a Friends of the Library book sale.  Without further ado, here we go:

Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas - I've had my eye on this YA debut novel for ages so of course I needed to treat myself to my own copy.  It sounds like it's going to be absolutely marvelous.

Horrid by Katrina Leno - Just look at that cover! Wow!

The Witch and Other Tales Re-Told by Jean Thompson - I just happen to spot this at the Friends of the Library book sale.  I hadn't heard of it before but I can't resist a good modern retelling.

Witch Way to the Mall (Supernatural Suburbia #1) edited by Esther M. Friesner - This was another Friends of the Library find that I hadn't heard of before, but it sounds like a fun collection of short stories.

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab - Schwab's newest release has been one of my most highly anticipated releases ever up to this point.  I'm dying to get to this one!

The Lost Book of the White (The Eldest Curses #2) by Cassandra Clare and Wesley Chu - Magnus and Alec are my two favorite Shadowhunters series characters hands down.  It's always good to see them.

Silver Borne (Mercy Thompson #5) by Patricia Briggs - I've yet to catch up to this one, but luckily I'll be able to jump right from book three through to this one at least.  This is such a great series so far from what I've read.

Harrow the Ninth (The Locked Tomb #2) by Tamsyn Muir - Gideon the Ninth has been one of my favorite reads of  2020 so far and I have a feeling that it's sequel will be too!

Now on to my really cool news!  I mentioned it on Twitter back on Monday, but it's more than worth sharing here as well.  Back in July, I read, reviewed, and enjoyed an ARC of The Black Sky (The Perseverantia Trilogy #1) by Timothy D. Minneci (Goodreads), a local Ohio author.  He asked if he could use a quote from my review on the final copy of the book and of course I said yes.  It turns out it's right on the front cover (and there's one on the back too)!  He sent me a finished copy and I totally screamed when I took it out of the envelope and saw my name!  If you haven't read this, I highly recommend it especially if you're a fan of Robert Ludlum and John Carpenter's Escape From New York.  I also received a CD copy of the novel's instrumental soundtrack which is also available on Spotify.  I've been listening to it and it definitely fits the tone.  This has easily been one of the coolest moments of 2020 for me! I can't wait to see where this series goes next.  Thanks again, Tim!

What are you reading this weekend?  What books have you bought recently?  What cool thing has totally made your day?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  3. THAT'S SO COOL LAUREN! One of my dreams has been to be blurbed so that's awesome that you got to support a local author as well!

I'm listening to Addie LaRue and I'm so intrigued by Horrid. I didn't realize it was out.
