The Friday 56 (With Book Beginnings): Magpie Murders (Susan Ryeland #1) by Anthony Horowitz

On Friday's I take part in three weekly link ups - The Friday 56, hosted by Freda's Voice, and Book Beginnings, hosted by Rose City Reader.  For The Friday 56, you choose a book, a book you have just finished, a book you are about to start, your current read, and share a line or a few lines that grab you (but don't spoil anything) from page 56 or 56% of the way through the ebook. Post it and share your post's url on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post. As for Book Beginnings, you share the first sentence or so and your initial thoughts, impressions, or whatever else it inspires, and then link up your post's url with Rose City Reader.

Happy Friday everyone!  This week I'm spotlighting my current ScreamAthon readathon book, Magpie Murders (Susan Ryeland #1) by Anthony Horowitz.  I'm always on the lookout for a good book within a book and this sounds like it's going to hit the spot.

Beginning:

23 July 1955

There was going to be a funeral.

56:

"He'd kill me," she replied.  She smiled curiously.  "Actually, he did try to kill me in a way - after our last row."

Are you taking part in this readathon?  What are you reading this weekend?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  1. I'm not taking part in the screamathon, but I am taking part in the fraterfest read-a-thon.

I have this book on my TBR list! Great selection and your snippets make me want to jump it to the front of the queue.

Happy weekend and here's my Weekend Book Friends #11

  2. I haven't read Magpie Murders, but the quotes for this one are definitely interesting.
I'm not currently participating in any readathon's, and I'm planning to read Artificial Condition by Martha Wells this weekend. Enjoy your current read!

  4. I hadn't heard of this readathon, but it sounds like a fun one! I've had so many people tell me how much they love Anthony Horowitz's books, but I haven't tried one yet. These excerpts are great, though!
