The Friday 56 (With Book Beginnings): For a Muse of Fire (For a Muse of Fire #1) by Heidi Heilig

On Friday's I take part in three weekly link ups - The Friday 56, hosted by Freda's Voice, and Book Beginnings, hosted by Rose City Reader.  For The Friday 56, you choose a book, a book you have just finished, a book you are about to start, your current read, and share a line or a few lines that grab you (but don't spoil anything) from page 56 or 56% of the way through the ebook. Post it and share your post's url on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post. As for Book Beginnings, you share the first sentence or so and your initial thoughts, impressions, or whatever else it inspires, and then link up your post's url with Rose City Reader.

Happy Friday everyone!  This week I'm spotlighting one of my current Book Riot's 2021 Read Harder Challenge books, For a Muse of Fire (For a Muse of Fire #1) by Heidi Heilig.  This has been sitting for way too long on my shelf and I'm glad I'm finally getting around to it.  I've really enjoyed everything from here so far so I'm glad this one is working out for me so far too.

Beginning:

Some people say that all the world's a stage.
But here, a shaky scaffold in the paddies
Can hold a universe inside an hour.

56:

LEGRADE: The difference is, he does it to his own people.  We only do it to our enemies.  Besides, it might boost morale in our own ranks.  I'm not unaware of the... ugliness brewing.

Are you taking part in this challenge?  What are you reading this weekend?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  14. Oooh, I've been wanting to read this series, since I've heard such good things about it! That opening definitely grabs my attention. The 56 snippet for sure grabs my attention, and now I'm wondering what exactly they're planning. Sure doesn't sound like anything good! Enjoy your reading.

    Here's my Friday post.

  15. I love that opening! I haven't read this one or anything by the author, but I think I might after reading the synopsis. Inspired by Asian cultures and French colonialism . . . I hope you continue to enjoy this one! Have a great weekend.
