Happy Tuesday everyone! Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday which is is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is Books I DNF'D. Without further ado, here we go in alphabetical order by title:
The Ancient Giants Who Ruled America: The Missing Skeletons and the Great Smithsonian Cover-Up by Richard J. Dewhurst - For some reason, this seems to have become kind of a thing in my area and I decided to give this a try since it was so highly recommended. I literally only made it through 12 pages of this insanity before I just couldn't put up with it any more.
The Animals at Lockwood Manor by Jane Healey - The idea sounded cool, but I just couldn't get into it and decided to move on to something else.
Brainwyrms by Alison Rumfitt - I like horror, but this one wasn't just my style.
The Company of Glass (Everien #1) by Leith Valery - I couldn't get into this and just decided to move on to something else.
Craft: Stories I Wrote For The Devil by Ananda Lima - I think I was hoping for something much different than what I got.
It Rides A Pale Horse by Andy Marino - It was compared to books from authors I like, but it wasn't for me.
My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh - The concept sounded interested, but I was both irritated and bored by the time I made it to 40% and decided to give it up.
Seduced by Crimson (Crimson City #5) by Jade Lee - I made it through Chapter 3 and I was so, so glad I stopped where I did.
Sword and Verse (Sword and Verse #1) by Kathy MacMillan - It sounded right up my alley, but I was too bored to stick with it.
Witches Steeped in Gold (Witches Steeped in Gold #1) by Ciannon Smart - I made it through only 50 pages before I decided I was too bored and found it too difficult to keep track of the characters.
Have you read, or tried to read any of these books? Did they work for you? As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!
I had Witches Steeped in Gold on my TBR for a while, but I kept seeing people either DNF it or finish it and then regret doing so. In the end, I took it off of my TBR.

I've noticed that too. I don't blame you for that.
DeleteI was curious about The Animals at Lockwood Manor. I've never got further than that 😂
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!

DeleteIt Rides a Pale Horse has a cool cover! (I haven’t read that one, though).
ReplyDeleteI agreed - the cover is great!
DeleteI don't know any of these books. Here is my post https://paigesofnovels.wordpress.com/2025/03/25/top-ten-tuesday-books-ive-dnfed/
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
DeleteI enjoyed The Animals at Lockwood Manor, but it wasn't exactly what I'd been expecting.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed it, Louise. Thanks for coming over!
DeleteYikes...Brainwyrms looks like something that I wouldn't pick up, especially with that cover...

Hehe, I'm kind of the other way around with that one!
DeleteI can't blame you for not sticking with Brainwyrms. I also tried to read Witches Steeped in Gold as a buddy read, but we couldn't stick with it. That was such a disappointment for me.
ReplyDeleteSame here. It sounded like it had so much potential.
DeleteThat's disappointing about Witches Steeped in Gold. That is on my want to read list. Trying to push through a book I find boring can so easily lead to a reading slump so definitely not worth it to continue if you aren't enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteIf you try it I hope you like it more than I did.
DeleteI haven't read any of these books, but I'll keep your opinions in mind if I ever pick them up!

Glad I could be of service. Thanks for sharing!
DeleteI couldn't finish Craft: Stories I Wrote For the Devil either. I just didn't have the patience to get through it.
ReplyDeleteAt least it wasn't just me!
DeleteSorry to hear about Witches Steeped in Gold. But being bored with a book is never good.
ReplyDeleteNope!
DeleteI contemplated reading your last book, but nope.

DeleteToo bad about Witches Steeped in Gold. I've had that one on my TBR for years and never got around to it.
