Happy Saturday everyone! It's now that time to start my Spring Equinox 2025 classes at Orilium for the Magical Readathon, hosted by G. @ Book Roast. I've followed the Novice Path, completed the Traveller's Key, have Geared Up, completed the Spring Equinox 2022 and August Equinox 2022, visited Old Favour Pass in 2022, completed the Choose Your Own Adventure: Year In Aeldia 2023, completed the Spring Equinox 2023 and Autumn Equinox 2023, and visited Old Favour Pass in 2023. I completed the Spring Equinox 2024, Autumn Equinox 2024, Choose Your Own Adventure: Year In Aeldia 2024, and Old Favour Pass 2024. I'm currently working my way through Choose Your Own Adventure: Year In Aeldia 2025, The Boardgame. Anyway, as usual, this Spring Equinox semester runs all of April. I've decided to continue studying for the Calling of a Scribe as I have during my previous studies (which means that by the end of this year I'll be graduating as a Master Scribe). This semester I'll be taking five courses: Elemental Studies, Inscription, Spells & Incantations, Restoration, and Lore. To complete each course I'll need to read one book to fulfill a specific prompt. Keep reading to see what I plan on reading to complete my course of study for this semester:
Elemental Studies - Course Focus: Earth Fruits - Fruit on the cover
My choice: The Villa by Rachel Hawkins - I've been eyeing this one at the library and it sounds like it might be for me. The author's been kind of hit and miss for me, but I hope I like it.
Inscription - Course Focus: The Hook - First sentence challenge: Try three, pick the best
My choice: Cry Pilot (Cry Pilot #1) by Joel Dane - Under the Pendulum Sun by Jeanette Ng and Craven Manor by Darcy Coates were my other two choices, but this book had the best intro, I thought.
Spells & Incantations - Course Focus: Spell: Copy & Paste - Word from your last book title
My choice: House of Marionne (House of Marionne #1) by J. Elle - Ghosts: The Button House Archives by Matthew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard, and Ben Willbond was one of my last reads when I was putting together this tbr (I loved it by the way - if you enjoy the original BBC show, you'll have to check it out!). I'll also be reading this for the Beat The Backlist 2025.
My choice: Hollywood Gothic: The Tangled Web of Dracula From Novel to Stage to Screen by David J. Skal - I love the sound of this collection of essays.
My choice: The Devil in Music (Julian Kestrel Mysteries #4) by Kate Ross - I haven't read any of the other books in this historical mystery series, but this installment sounds pretty tempting. Plus, just look at that cover!
I had a lot of fun with The Villa, although it's not my favorite of her books. I'm curious to see what you think!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to it!
