Top Ten Tuesday: Debut Authors Who Have Me Looking Forward To Their Sophomore Novel

Happy Tuesday everyone and welcome to Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.  This week's theme is Debut Authors Who Have Me Looking Forward To Their Sophomore Novel or Sophomore Novels That I Loved Just As Much If Not More As The Author's Debut Novel.  I elected to go with the first option.  Below are 2014 or 2015 debut authors that I'm excited to see more from in the future.  Here we go, in alphabetical order:

Courtney Alameda - I loved her foray into horror and I'm really looking forward to Pitch Dark.

Victoria Aveyard - While I wasn't 100% thrilled with Red Queen, I'm still hoping to continue the series with Glass Sword.

Moira Fowley-Doyle - I haven't heard of anything upcoming from this author yet, but I need more of her writing after The Accident Season.

Robin Herrera - There hasn't been any announcements of forthcoming work, but based on the strength of the above pictured MG novel I'm definitely interested.

Melissa Grey - The Girl at Midnight was so much fun and I can't wait to get my hands on the sequel, The Shadow Hour.

Lee Kelly - If you haven't read City of Savages, you're really missing out on one of the best post apocalyptic reads of the year and I can't wait to see  A Criminal Magic which is already being compared to The Night Circus.

Dawn Kurtagich - If you like psychological horror, this author did a fantastic job with The Dead House.  I'm already excited for the release of The Creeper Man.

David Lagercrantz - I know, I know.  This doesn't quite fit the criteria, but I'm including him here for his "debut" with this series.

Levi Stack - This debut author's first novel definitely deserves more attention but I'm really looking forward to the sequel, The Magic Trick.

Sabaa Tahir - No way I could miss including this author!  I can't describe how much I can't wait to dig in to A Torch Against the Night!

So what do you think of this week's list?  Do we share any authors or have any recommendations for me?  All comments are very much appreciated and I try to respond to everyone.

  1. I enjoyed Red Queen, even though there were parts that were pretty generic and the twist near the end wasn't that big of a surprise to me, and am looking forward to reading it's sequel.

I am really looking forward to The Shadow Hour, it's on my list too.

If there was any book that's not coming out for a while that I wish I could time travel to read, it would be the sequel to An Ember in the Ashes. That book was my favorite of the year. (so far, I mean I have yet to read Winter and Frozen Tides, and I still haven't read Queen of Shadows; so that could change, though unlikely)

    1. Red Queen was fun, but it wasn't overly original or creative. I am looking forward to seeing what she does in the next installment. The sequel to An Ember in the Ashes was on genie list a couple of weeks ago. Thanks for sharing.

  7. I haven't read any of these, but the covers are gorgeous! So it appears you liked the new Lisbeth Salander novel? I wasn't sure with a new author taking over. Did it feel like the original series?

  10. Shutter, no idea what it’s about but OMG the cover is awesomely creepy and I need to know more about it. I’m excited to know what happens next for Red Queen and how it moves forward plus the covers are so beautiful. An Ember in the Ashes, might be my favorite book on the list and the one I’ve seen the most on the other pages but one I’m curious about is The Girl at Midnight, I’ve seen the cover around but haven’t heard many specifics but seeing it on here I might need to see it more. 23. i felt the SAME way about Red Queen. It was good but the ending is what made me look forward to the next book so much because of that cliff hanger/surprise at the end of Red Queen! great post this week Lauren! and thanks for checking out my TTT this week at Wholly-Books!

  24. I've been looking forward to reading Dawn Kurtagich's novel - I nearly bought it a few months ago but I hadn't heard anything about it, but now everyone is raving about it and I feel like I've missed out!
I've been avoiding Red Queen because I heard too much about it too quickly, but I'm probably going to start the series when Glass Sword is finally released.
