Happy Monday everyone and welcome back to Music Monday! Let's share some songs we've been enjoying lately!  If you would like to play and I really hope you do, please see the rules and link up below.

Rules:

Every Monday share a few songs you've been enjoying lately.  It doesn't have to be a specific genre, new, or one of your favorites - just something you'd like to share with others.  If possible, share a music or lyric video of the song and your thoughts on the song(s), artist(s), and/or music video(s).

If you would like to participate in Music Monday, please join the link up by sharing your post's url.

This week I'm spotlighting my favorite songs from the new live-action remake of Aladdin.  I saw it on Friday, May 24th and I surprised myself by how much I ended up enjoying it.  It wasn't perfect, but it was a lot of fun.  I'm so happy Alan Menken came back to do the music on this.  Anyway, it just seemed like everyone was having the time of their lives making this movie, especially Mena Massoud.  Have you seen, or do you plan on seeing this new live-action update on Disney's animated classic?

"A Whole New World" - Naomi Scott is the real standout in this movie - she hits all the right notes as Jasmine.  Plus, in this song Mena Massoud sounds quite a bit like his animated counterpart.

"Speechless" - Jasmine gets an all new song and it really lets Naomi Scott shine.  It's great to see Jasmine fleshed out a little more in this new movie.

"Friend Like Me" - This is easily my favorite song from the original movie and no one will ever replace Robin Williams, but I have to say Will Smith did a good job putting his own spin on the song.  My favorite lyric change is:

You got some power in your corner now
Heavy ammunition in your camp
You got some punch, pizazz, yahoo! and how
All you gotta do is rub that lamp
And I'll say Mister- man... what's your name?
Whatever, what will your pleasure be?
Let me take your order, I'll jot it down
You ain't never had a friend like me

It totally fits the tone of the scene and then that bit nearer the end when Aladdin supplies his own name when the Genie gets to that point in the song!  That was good.
