Top Ten Tuesday: Childhood Favorites

Happy Tuesday everyone!  Welcome to the Top Ten Tuesday now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.  This week's topic is Childhood Favorites.  I've included some of the picture books and children's books that I was all about in my younger days.  Here we go, in alphabetical order by title:

Corduroy by Don Freeman

Frog and Toad Are Friends by Arnold Lobel

Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss

Julie of the Wolves by Jean Craighead George

Little Toot by Hardie Gramatky

Madeline by Ludwig Bemelmans

The Poky Little Puppy by Janette Sebring Lowry

The Sailor Dog by Margaret Wise Brown

Shiloh by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor

The True Story of the 3 Little Pig by Jon Scieszka

What were some of your childhood favorites?  Have you read any of these books?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  1. Awww! Corduroy! I think I still own that one, but it's REALLY beat up. Guess that means it was well loved. Not sure I ever had the Madeline books, but I did watch the animated short ALL THE TIME. Oh, and of course, 'Poky Little Puppy' is a classic. :)

  7. 1. Corduroy! I had the teddy bear with the book and that made me love them both more.

    2. Julie of the Wolves is fantastic. Started a total obsession with that author's work for me. Did you have any other favorites from her?

    3. My mom loved Madeline more than I did, I think! But I liked how she was always so excited to read it to me.

    4. True Story of the Three Little Pigs is a great concept. We read it in 3rd grade and then spent a week or two writing and illustrating our own "true version" of something. Remind me to tell you about the further adventures of Sleeping Beauty (now called Christine) and how her husband turned out to be Prince Boring so she sent him on a 75-year quest.

    5. Oh, Shiloh. Every word perfect. Still one of my favorite books to this day, even though I could never get into the sequels.

  8. Madeline and Shiloh were faves of mine too. I remember when I saw Angelina Jolie named her daughter that and I immediately thought about this book and how much I loved it.

  9. I know I read Shiloh as a kid, but I don't remember much about it. :)

  12. I read the True Story of the 3 Little Pigs when I was a teen to my little cousins, and wow! That book was fantastic! Dr. Seuss was a favorite of mine too, with that book being especially dear, as my childhood nickname came from that story (Sam I Am or the shorter version, Green Eggs)

    1. I used to be called Sam I Am as well - even though my name is nothing like Sam at all. :D

  13. I was talking to someone else the other day about how integral Dr. Seuss is to childhood. Still love reading his books despite I'm no longer a child. Heck, even my kids aren't even kids these days!

Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!

  14. What a fun list this week. I may not have read these books myself but I read many of them to my children. Now I get to relive them again with my grandson. So fun. Some books really stand the test of time. My Childhood favorites

  15. I remember reading The True Story of the Three Little Pigs but I can't put my finger on how old I was when I read it 😅 And I think I'd heard of Madeleine when I was young, but I don't remember reading it.
