Magical Readathon: Orilium - Spring Equinox 2022 - Announcement & TBR

Happy Thursday everyone!  It's finally time to start my classes at Orilium for the Magical Readathon, hosted by G. @ Book Roast.  I've followed the Novice Path, completed the Traveller's Key, and have Geared Up, so I'm all prepared to start this new semester! The Spring Equinox semester runs all of April.  The Calling I've decided to study for is that of Scribe which sounds like a great fit for me.  That means I'll be taking five courses: Elemental Studies, Inscription, Spells & Incantations, Restoration, and Lore.  To complete each course I'll need to read one book to fulfill a specific prompt.  You can check out G's video announcement here for this semester to get more details and check out all the options.  Without further ado, keep reading to see my TBR:

Elemental Studies - Basis of Air Dynamics: Book Under 100 Pages

My choice: The Roman Baths at Bath: Authorised Guide Book by Barry Cunliff, Stephen Bird, et al. - I picked this up at a library book sale a while back and it looks fascinating.

Inscription - Glyph: Strength: Intimidating Read

My choice: Anansi Boys (American Gods #2) by Neil Gaiman - Gaiman is one of my favorite authors and I loved American Gods, but for some reason I never read the sequel.  I'm kind of nervous to find out what I've been missing!

Spells & Incantations - Anti-Gravity Spell: Short Stories/ Essays

My choice: Mirror, Mirror on the Wall: Women Writers Explore Their Favorite Fairy Tales edited by Kate Bernheimer - I haven't read many of the authors included, but it still sounds like a fascinating collection of essays.

Restoration - Cure Wounds: Book Featuring Healers

My choice: The Black Company (The Chronicles of the Black Company #1) by Glen Cook - As the father of grimdark fantasy, I need to finally pick up Glen Cook.

Lore - Myths Most Known: Mythology Inspired

My choice: Half Sick of Shadows by Laura Sebastian - I'm always ready for an Arthurian retelling.  I've seen a lot of mixed reviews, but I'm looking forward to trying it out for myself.

Are you taking part in this readathon?  Have you read any of these books?  Which one should I start with?  As always, thanks for visiting and perhaps even commenting down below!

  1. Personally, I really enjoyed Half Sick of Shadows. I can see why some reader mightn't be as keen though. I hope like it!
