Book Riot's 2019 Read Harder Challenge - February Update: Reveal & All The Birds In The Sky

February has just ended - how?! Anyway, this means that I've completed 4 out of 24 books of Book Riot's 2019 Read Harder Challenge!  How is 2019 going by so quickly?!  The tasks I completed required me to read a book published prior to January 1, 2019, with fewer than 100 reviews on Goodreads and a novel by a trans or nonbinary author.  For the tasks, I selected Reveal (Among Us Trilogy #3) by Anne-Rae Vasquez and All the Birds in the Sky by Charlie Jane Anders.  Read on to see my mini reviews and what's next for March:

❋ ❋ ❋ ❋ ❋

Reveal by Anne-Rae Vasquez is the final installment of the Among Us Trilogy. I've absolutely loved this series since I first found book one, Doubt. As it turns out for book two, Resist, and this finale, I acted as a beta reader for the author. It was an awesome experience to have the opportunity to go through these two final novels line by line and chapter by chapter with the author. Plus, I have to admit that it was just plain cool to see my name in the acknowledgments.
Anyway, Reveal is a fantastic finale! This is the first time I've read it in its final form. It's incredibly addicting and I loved catching up with all of the characters and seeing where everyone is and how they end up. I couldn't have asked for a better conclusion. If you are a fan of Supernatural or Fringe, I have a feeling you'll love the Among Us Trilogy.

I read this novel from February 2 - 7, 2019 and my review is also on Goodreads.

❋ ❋

I've been wanting to read All the Birds in the Sky by Charlie Jane Anders since it was first released in 2016, but for some reason I kept putting it off. Luckily, Book Riot's 2019 Read Harder Challenge finally gave me the push I really needed to pick it up. Overall, I really enjoyed the author's writing style which is quite creative and quirky. I was thoroughly entangled by exploring the world she's created over the course of the novel. The story also packs quite an emotional punch, doesn't it. I only had one real issue with the novel - it's just a little too meandering for my tastes in the long run. I am looking forward to reading more from this author in the future, particularly The City in the Middle of the Night.

I read this novel on February 14, 2019 and my review is also on Goodreads.

Next Up For March:

An alternate history novel

My choice: Curtsies & Conspiracies (Finishing School #2) by Gail Carriger - Carriger has become one of my favorite authors and I need to get caught up on her work.

A book of mythology or folklore

My choice: The Lost Hero (Heroes of Olympus #1) by Rick Riordan - I've completed three of Riordan's series and I need to finally start in on this series before I jump into The Trials of Apollo.

Have you read any of these books?  Are you participating in the Read Harder Challenge this year, or have you in the past?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!
