The Friday 56 (With Book Beginnings): The Red Plague Affair (Bannon & Clare #2) by Lilith Saintcrow + 50/50 Friday

On Friday's I take part in three weekly link ups - The Friday 56, hosted by Freda's Voice, Book Beginnings, hosted by Rose City Reader, and 50/50 Friday is a new weekly link up and it is hosted by Carrie @ The Butterfly Reader and Laura @ Blue Eye Books. For The Friday 56, you choose a book, a book you have just finished, a book you are about to start, your current read, and share a line or a few lines that grab you (but don't spoil anything) from page 56 or 56% of the way through the ebook. Post it and share your post's url on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post. As for Book Beginnings, you share the first sentence or so and your initial thoughts, impressions, or whatever else it inspires, and then link up your post's url with Rose City Reader. Then, for 50/50 Friday, every week there's a new topic featuring two sides of the same coin - you share a book that suits each category and link up on the hosts blogs.

Happy Friday everyone!  This week I'm spotlighting one of my current Fantastic February reads, The Red Plague Affair (Bannon & Clare #2) by Lilith Saintcrow.  The first book in this steampunk urban fantasy was a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to see more of these characters.  If you like Sherlock Holmes and Gail Carriger's The Parasol Protectorate, I have a feeling you'll get a kick out of this series as well.

Beginning:

I am too bloody old for this.

56:

Even the Little Crown weighed terribly, and what was it like to host a being as ancient and headstrong as Britannia?

50/50 Friday: Favorite/ Least Favorite Sarcastic Character

Favorite - Harry Dresden from The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher - Hands down one of my all time favorite characters.

Least Favorite - Evie from Paranormalcy by Kiersten White - Evie kind of started to grate on my nerves after awhile.

Have you read any of these books?  What are you reading this weekend?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  14. I haven't read The Red Plague Affair or Storm Front but they sound cool. I read Paranormalcy ages ago and I thought Evie was a bit annoying too. This weekend, I'm reading Cryptofauna by Patrick Canning. It's very surreal and funny.

  17. A steampunk urban fantasy? Yes, please! Those are two of my favorite genres. I'll have to add this series to my wishlist. :)

  18. Oh wow I kind of forgot Paranormalcy was a book that I read once upon a time. I'm inclined to agree with you that the wit in that book was just not the greatest mostly because I honestly remember literally nothing about the book and that's never a good sign :) I feel like that's always a great way to evaluate the lasting quality of a book: what it is you remember about it three-five years after you've read it. Thanks for linking up, Lauren!
