Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Want To Read After Watching The Movie First

Happy Tuesday everyone!  Welcome to the Top Ten Tuesday now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.  This week's topic is a page to screen freebie and I'm focusing on books I'd like to read based on the movie.  Usually I like to read the book first, but these I've missed out on.  Someday!

2001: A Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke

The Borrowers by Mary Norton

I am Legend by Richard Matheson

The Indian in the Cupboard by Lynne Reid Banks

Inkheart by Cornelia Funke

It by Stephen King

L.A. Confidential by James Ellroy

Les Miserables by Victor Hugo

The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux

The Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris

Have you read any of these books?  How do they compare to the movie adaptation?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  1. I understand that LA Confidential is a really good movie. I should look for it. My twist: Good movies about famous authors

  2. I feel like I "have" to read the book first otherwise I simply don't get through the books. This is why for all of these recent YA film adaptations, I've made it a rule that I have to read the book first. So far, it's working well. *crosses fingers*

It's been years, but I kind of remember Inkheart (the film). Someday I should re-watch it. :)

    1. I usually try, but most of these I didn't realize were adaptations until later. ;)

  4. Oh The Borrowers! I remember wanting to read that whe I was younger and never did! And 2001 I have seen AND read- it's kinda trippy!

    Inkheart looks fun.

    1. Yes! Have you ever seen The Secret World of Arietty? It's a really cool adaptation as well.

  5. Some of these I didn't even know were books! I remember my grandma got me The Borrowers books when I was a kid.

  6. I didn't know there was a film version of The Indian in the Cupboard. Interesting.

  7. Ooh, The Silence of the Lambs is pretty good. I think the movie will always be better, but I remember really loving the book too.

  8. I haven't read any of these, I think I started reading The Borrowers when I was a kid but I don't think I ever finished it. I have Inkheart on my TBR, I'm looking forward to reading it.

  15. I adore Inkheart so much. I've been waiting and waiting for my niece to be old enough so I can gift it to her. It's one of my favorite MGs. So good.

  16. You know, I never read a book after seeing a movie. So this is interesting for me. I did see quite a few of these films, and they were great.

  17. Oh, I never read I Am Legend, either, and I really should! Same with World War Z. :) I've heard the books are better than the movies in those instances. I tried reading Inkheart, but it just really wasn't my thing, so I finished that book but never finished the series. Hopefully, you enjoy it more than I did. Great list!

  18. The only ones on this list I've read are Inkheart and Indian in the Cupboard. I read Indian in the Cupboard as a kid, so I of course remember nothing about it, but I enjoyed Inkheart!

  19. Oooh! I need to read IT and The Silence of the Lambs sometime too!
