The Friday 56 (With Book Beginnings): Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz + 50/50 Friday

On Friday's I take part in three weekly link ups - The Friday 56, hosted by Freda's Voice, Book Beginnings, hosted by Rose City Reader, and 50/50 Friday is a weekly link up and it is hosted by Carrie @ The Butterfly Reader and Laura @ Blue Eye Books. This week is actually final week for 50/50 Friday before it will be officially retired by the hosts. For The Friday 56, you choose a book, a book you have just finished, a book you are about to start, your current read, and share a line or a few lines that grab you (but don't spoil anything) from page 56 or 56% of the way through the ebook. Post it and share your post's url on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post. As for Book Beginnings, you share the first sentence or so and your initial thoughts, impressions, or whatever else it inspires, and then link up your post's url with Rose City Reader. Then, for 50/50 Friday, every week there's a new topic featuring two sides of the same coin - you share a book that suits each category and link up on the hosts blogs.

Happy Friday everyone!  This week I'm spotlighting one of my Stranger Things Readathon books, Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz.  I've had this on my tbr for so long and it's been recommended to me so many times and I'm glad to find I that I really enjoyed it.

Beginning:

One summer night I fell asleep, hoping the world would be different when I woke.

56:

Wow, a world without darkness.  How beautiful was that?

50/50 Friday: Best/ Worst Read of August (Final Week)

Best - Going Rogue (Spells, Swords, & Stealth #3) by Drew Hayes - I read quite a few great books in August, but I really loved this one.  This whole series is so delightful and the audiobook narrator, Roger Wayne, is incredibly talented.  It definitely deserves more recognition.

Worst - Twin Daggers by Marcykate Connolly - I received an ARC from NetGalley for this, unfortunately I ended up DNF'ing it at only 21%.  It's described as being a YA action-adventure spy thriller retelling of Romeo and Juliet.  That really sold  me, but I couldn't spot any elements of the Shakespearean retelling I was expecting.  Maybe it appears later in the story than I made it, but I lost interest far too early.

Have you read any of these books?  Are you taking part in this readathon?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  3. I am so glad to hear you enjoyed Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe! I've been wanting to read those books for awhile now. I think that opening describes how most of us felt every night this past summer. LOL

That's too bad about Twin Daggers, but I am glad to hear you liked Going Rogue. It sounds like a great series.

I hope you have a great weekend! Happy Reading!
