Happy Tuesday everyone! Welcome to the Top Ten Tuesday now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is Recent Favorite Book Quotes. The quotes I'm featuring are all from books I've read within the last year or so. Here we go, in alphabetical order by title:
“We have failed, but I hope they will see how hard we tried.” -Aurora Burning (The Aurora Cycle #2) by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
"I have one question, however. Will that remain your name of choice for the entirety of our time in the Americas, or should I expect to find strangers addressing you as Athelney Jones or Tobias Gregson in the near future?" [For context, Holmes has to come up with an alias on the spot and tells someone his name is Mr. Lestrade in a moment of panic. And Watson won't let him forget it!] -The Counterfeit Detective (The Further Adventures of Sherlock Holmes) by Stuart Douglas
“Do not dismiss what you do not understand.” -European Travel for the Monstrous Gentlewoman (The Extraordinary Adventures of the Athena Club #2) by Theodora Goss
“There is power in being unremembered, in being overlooked. You should remember that power. People who aren't seen can see and hear all.” -The Faceless Old Woman Who Secretly Lives In Your Home (Welcome to Night Vale #3) by Joseph Fink and Jeffrey Cranor
“Sometimes you risk everything for a life worth living, even if you're not the one that'll be alive to see it.” -The Marrow Thieves by Cherie Dimaline
“I want to survive this world that keeps trying to destroy me.” -Ninth House (Alex Stern #1) by Leigh Bardugo
“Find the stories you love, and don’t ever let anyone tell you you’re wrong for loving them.” -Revisionary (Magic Ex Libris #4) by Jim C. Hines
“There are too many books in the world to waste time slogging through the ones you hate.” -Revisionary (Magic Ex Libris #4) by Jim C. Hines
“Don't ignore half of me so you can fit me into a box. Don't do that.” -The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
“So we must acknowledge that knowledge is ever expanding, ever changing, and so we must also change with it” -Sword and Pen (The Great Library #5) by Rachel Caine
Have you read any of these books? What are some of your favorite bookish quotes? As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!
Great list! Ugh I love Evelyn Hugo, and I love “People who aren't seen can see and hear all.”

ReplyDeleteMy post .
That series is just so quotable. :)
DeleteI really like the Evelyn Hugo book quote. I'm hoping to reread it before her new book comes out (which I only found out about yesterday!), but we'll see if it actually happens or not....
ReplyDeleteI bet it would be marvelous on audiobook - I'm thinking about rereading in that format. :)
DeleteI love that one from the Great Library series, I definitely have to catch up with that series soon.

ReplyDeleteSo many great quotes on this list! I love that you included one from a Welcome to Night Vale book. I've been wanting to get around to those for ages.
ReplyDeleteGreat Evelyn Hugo quote!
ReplyDeleteI like that one from the Goss book a lot. Looks like a fun one!
ReplyDeleteSo many good ones! I have not read any of these, although a couple of them are on my TBR. My fave quote is from Ninth House. Great post!
ReplyDeleteAs someone who finds that older people are often overlooked, I like this:
ReplyDelete“There is power in being unremembered, in being overlooked. You should remember that power. People who aren't seen can see and hear all.”
I agree with “There are too many books in the world to waste time slogging through the ones you hate.” I try to abandon books I'm not enjoying sooner.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Top Ten Tuesday list this week.
I have so many Sherlock books and I haven't read any yet. What is wrong with me!! I can't wait. Great quotes!!
