Top Ten Tuesday: Horror Movies I Want To Watch To Get In The Halloween Spirit

Happy Tuesday everyone!  Welcome to the Top Ten Tuesday now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.  This week's topic is a Halloween Freebie and I'm going to feature horror movies I want to watch this season to get into the Halloween Spirit.  All of the movies on my list are movies I've never seen before and hope to watch for the first time this season.  Here we go, in alphabetical order by title:

American Psycho (2000) - I've always lumped this together with Fight Club but I prefer this one. The dark and cynical sense of humor and Bale's performance make it work.

As Above So Below (2014) - I liked this more than I expected to. It starts pretty unique but the last quarter of the movie wasn't the best. It's especially interesting if you know your Dante.

A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night (2014) - One of my new favorite vampire movies and it features a really good kitty cat.  I should have watched this years ago.

Housebound (2014) - I'm still waiting on my library hold for this but it sounds like it will be great.

Near Dark (1987) - This is another new favorite vampire movie that I should have watched ages ago. I definitely prefer this to The Lost Boys and Bill Paxton totally wins this round for me.

Satanic Panic (2019) - Ended up not quite being for me, but the lead actress does a good job.

The Skin I Live In (2011) - You have to see this and you have to go in blind. It needs to be experienced.

Spree (2020) - I watched for Joe Keery and he didn't disappoint.

Thirst (2009) - My library copy came in but the disc was scratched very badly so I'm still waiting for this one.

The Transfiguration (2016) - I was expecting something much different and better, but I'm glad I agree with the main character that Let The Right One In is one of the best vampire movies.

Have you watched any of these movies?  What movies are you going to watch to get in the spirit for Halloween?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  1. I watched As Above So Below and I didn't like it that much but my sister absolutely loves it. I think it was quite interesting though although not exactly for me I guess. I've also been hoping to watch American Psycho. But then I'm not the biggest movie type of person so I barely watch them in the first place.

  10. I cannot believe I have not seen any of these. Now if we were talking 80s slasher flicks, I have seen them all. Hope they all get your heart pumping.

  11. I'm really wanting more monster movies to be released. Like "Mimic" and "The Relic" from the late 90s.

  12. I can't stand watching horror movies, so I definitely haven't seen any of these. Haven't heard of many of them either. The poster for Thirst looks so creepy... It's good you've enjoyed most of them though, and I hope you're able to get the remaining ones before the Halloween season gets too far out of sight!

  13. So yeah, I would not necessarily willingly ever watch movies like this, but The Skin I live in with Antonio Banderas really has me curious!

  14. American Psycho is a great one! I recently watched it within the last 2 years and I regret not watching it sooner. Oh gosh, I feel like As Above So Below is ALWAYS on tv lolol I've watched it too many times and I don't really like it? It's just on so I watch haha. I actually haven't heard of many on this list which is odd for me since I watch so many horror movies! I'll have to check them out :)

    1. I've never seen As Above So Below on tv before but then again I just get the over the air broadcast channels. I liked it well enough this first time but not enough to see it again I don't think.

  15. I don't watch horror movies! But I do like spooky kind of films like Corpse Bride. I've not seen Nightmare Before Christmas though and I really need to!

  16. Nope, sorry, these all look way too scary for me! Nightmare Before Christmas is more my speed when it comes to Halloween movies...

  18. Argh no! I love a horror book but I can’t watch horror films! The stupid thing is I can happily watch the Walking Dead but give me something like Halloween and I’ll be behind the couch.

  19. I must admit to having never seen any of these! I am such a fail at movies, honestly! But I do hope you get the chance to watch them soon!

  20. I used to watch horror movies all the time, but I've kind of avoided them this year. Housebound, however, might just get me to break that streak. It sounds fantastic!

  21. I hope you enjoy them! I haven’t watched any scary movies so far this year. I have watched a few cute Halloween movies. I guess having a toddler in the house interferes with my horror movie addiction.
