The Friday 56 (With Book Beginnings): The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix

On Friday's I take part in three weekly link ups - The Friday 56, hosted by Freda's Voice, and Book Beginnings, hosted by Rose City Reader.  For The Friday 56, you choose a book, a book you have just finished, a book you are about to start, your current read, and share a line or a few lines that grab you (but don't spoil anything) from page 56 or 56% of the way through the ebook. Post it and share your post's url on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post. As for Book Beginnings, you share the first sentence or so and your initial thoughts, impressions, or whatever else it inspires, and then link up your post's url with Rose City Reader.

Happy Friday everyone!  This week I'm spotlighting one of my current Name-a-Thon reads, The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix.  Hendrix is one of my favorites and I don't know why I've been putting it off.  I guess, I just don't want it to end.

Beginning:

This story ends in blood.

56:

Patricia woke up the next morning with the entire side of her face swollen and hot.

What are you reading this week?  Have you read this book?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  1. That is a very ominous way to begin a story. I've heard about The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires but haven't read it. It seems like an interesting take on vampires. Enjoy your current read!

  2. That beginning definitely grabs the attention. I've seen this book around quite a bit recently, so might have to check it out. Hope you enjoy!

  3. Ooh this one sounds so intriguing! I love the opening, it's so blunt and clear that you can't help but keep reading. I also totally recognize the feeling of not wanting a book to end and therefore just not reading it anymore, even though you love it! Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a lovely weekend :)

  7. Where have I seen this book before. The title itself is very funny but your quotes aren't. Is it humorous? My Friday quotes from This Tender Land

  8. That first line is chilling when taken at face value, but could be ironic given some characters are vampires. I'd definitely keep reading to find out which it is.
