PopCulture Readathon, Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Big Baddies Board - Announcement & TBR

This January I'll been participating in the next round of the PopCulture Readathon, created and hosted by Whitney @ bookswhitme (with some assistance from Lo @ Reading Parental).   The theme is Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which is one of my all-time favorite tv shows, so I'll be starting the year off right!  There are 3 different boards - Slayer, Scooby Gang, and Big Baddies.  It was a tough choice, but I'm going to tackle the Big Baddies board  Without further ado, check out my Big Baddies TBR:

The Mayor - Book w/a snake on the cover

My choice: Girl, Serpent, Thorn by Melissa Bashardoust - I've been eyeing this YA fantasy novel at my library for awhile now and it's time I finally get to it.

Dark Willow - Book w/a power hungry character

My choice: The Councillor (The Councillor #1) by E.J. Beaton - This fantasy series opener sounds like it's going to be exactly up my alley.

Principal Snyder - Book set in high school

My choice: Angelfire (Angelfire #1) by Courtney Allison Moulton - I just happened to find this at a thrift store not too long ago and it sounded intriguing enough that I thought I'd give it a chance.  It was published back in 2011, but somehow I'd never heard of it at all before.

Drusilla - Read a vampire book

My choice: Necroscope II: Vamphyri! (Necroscope #2) by Brian Lumley - I really enjoyed the first book in this series and I need to know what's next.

The Hellmouth - Read a paranormal/ urban fantasy book

My choice: Unquiet Dreams (Connor Grey #2) by Mark Del Franco - The first book in the series was solid, but I think the series has the potential to become pretty great.

She-Mantis - Book feat. sirens

My choice: Song of the Current (Song of the Current #1) by Sarah Tolcser - This has been pretty popular at my library, so I thought I'd see what all the fuss is about.

Spike - Book w/a loveable bad boy

My choice: The Life and Death of Lily Drake (Lily Drake #1) by T. Michelle Nelson - I picked this up at a book sale ages ago.  I don't know much about it, but it sounds like it could be a strong contender for this category.

Glory - Book feat. a goddess

My choice: Antigoddess (Goddess War #1) by Kendare Blake - I don't know about you, but this mythology based series opener sounds like it could be fun.

Angelus - Psychological Thriller

My choice: An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen - I've seen this compared to books by Ruth Ware and Riley Sager, so I need to give this a try.

Have you read any of these books?  Are you taking part in this readathon?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  1. I hadn't heard of this readathon, but now I'm really tempted! Girl Serpent Thorn and The Councillor were both big favourites of mine.
