The Friday 56 (With Book Beginnings): For Your Own Good by Samantha Downing

On Friday's I take part in two weekly link ups - The Friday 56, hosted by Freda's Voice (Anne @ My Head Is Full of Books is currently managing hosting duties), and Book Beginnings, hosted by Rose City Reader.  For The Friday 56, you choose a book, a book you have just finished, a book you are about to start, your current read, and share a line or a few lines that grab you (but don't spoil anything) from page 56 or 56% of the way through the ebook. Post it and share your post's url on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post. As for Book Beginnings, you share the first sentence or so and your initial thoughts, impressions, or whatever else it inspires, and then link up your post's url with Rose City Reader.

Happy Friday everyone!  This week I'm spotlighting one of my one of my 12 Books, 12 Friends challenge books, For Your Own Good by Samantha Downing.  This was recommended to me and it sounds really intriguing.

Beginning:

Entitlement has a particular stench.  Pungent, bitter.  Almost brutal.

56:

She takes another sip of her Sprite and draws her breath, steadying herself against her desk. With the back of her hand, she wipes her forehead, hoping the students don't see her perspire.

Have you read this book?  Are you taking part of this challenge?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  1. I agree with that opening quote about entitlement.

    Happy New Year.

  2. I can feel the tension in the 56. Hope that the character gets through the class without too much more trouble.

  3. I really like that opening. I haven't read anything by Downing, although I am pretty sure I have two of her books on my TBR pile. I hope you are enjoying For Your Own Good. Have a great weekend, Lauren!
