The Friday 56 (With Book Beginnings): In Cold Blood by Truman Capote + 50/50 Friday

On Friday's I take part in three weekly link ups - The Friday 56, hosted by Freda's Voice, Book Beginnings, hosted by Rose City Reader, and 50/50 Friday is a new weekly link up and it is hosted by Carrie @ The Butterfly Reader and Laura @ Blue Eye Books. For The Friday 56, you choose a book, a book you have just finished, a book you are about to start, your current read, and share a line or a few lines that grab you (but don't spoil anything) from page 56 or 56% of the way through the ebook. Post it and share your post's url on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post. As for Book Beginnings, you share the first sentence or so and your initial thoughts, impressions, or whatever else it inspires, and then link up your post's url with Rose City Reader. Then, for 50/50 Friday, every week there's a new topic featuring two sides of the same coin - you share a book that suits each category and link up on the hosts blogs.

This week I'm spotlighting one of my current Book Riot's 2019 Read Harder Challenge reads, In Cold Blood by Truman Capote which will fulfill the book by a journalist or about journalism task.  I know a good deal about the case already and I've seen the film adaptation.  So far it's living up to my expectations.

Beginning:

The village of Holcomb stands on the high wheat plains of western Kansas, a lonesome area that other Kansans call "out there."

56:

Nancy was invariably the ast of the family to retire; as she had once informed her friend and home-economics teacher, Mrs. Polly Stringer, the midnight hours were her "time to be selfish and vain."

50/50 Friday: Character Most/ Least Likely To Kiss A Stranger

Most likely - Jace from The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare - I have to admit, he was the character I first thought of for this prompt.

Least likely - Alec from The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare - I decided to stick with the same series and he seemed like the perfect choice.

Have you read this book?  Are you taking part in the Read Harder Challenge?  What are you reading this weekend?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  1. This book is one that I should really read as well. The movie is so chilling and I have heard so many fantastic things about Truman's wiring. I hope that the book continues to be one that you enjoy!
